Hey RamZar,

Do you have any insight as to why the 0801 was discontinued? I had thought that it was going to be updated with S35VN this year. Do you think it's been discontinued so that it can be reintroduced as something like the 0801S35VN, or is it just gone for good?

You're correct in that the ZT 2016 Catalog has the ZT 0801 and 0801BW with S35VN instead of Elmax.

Per posts by both BladeHQ and GP Knives both were discontinued as of May 31, 2016 and thus the bigger discounts.

I'm uncertain if it comes back as S35VN but I'd guess not.

Items are discontinued if they don't sell. This happens with all manufacturers. Another reason to discontinue an item is to free up the limited production capacity for a new item or ramp up production for top-selling items.

How is it that the 0801blk is not getting a discount as well? Is that a special model or run?

That is the only one I done have yet... figures. I really like the look of the all black very much.

It's not a regular production model. If you wait long enough it will probably go on sale.

There were 9 models in the 0801 series and only the first two below were regular production:

0801
0801BW
0801BLK
0801BRWCF
0801BWMM
0801CF
0801S110V
0801S110VBLK
0801USN

62+ HRC. ZT used ZDP in several 0350 models (see below) and it was also used in the 40th Anniversary Kershaw 4040 Ruby two years ago.

Me too. I've been waiting for them to change from s35vn. I'm not a big fan of that steel or the black coating. I really like this new configuration.
