Just wanted to quickly post my experience so far with ZT's warranty.

Had one of my anod 801s have some lockup issues and called ZT a few times to ask if they could help. Each time (about 2 calls) they were nothing but kind and helpful.

Sent the knife in and within w days if them getting it they had fixed the issue (what they juat told me this morning) and will be shipping the knife back today.

Overall it was flawless.

I have not received the knife as i am traveling across the country but i will have it in a few weeks and will follow up with the service they did on the knife.

Hopefully this helps if anyone is worried or nervous about sending a modified ZT in for repair. They seem to have their system down and overall some of the best customer service ive had. Right up there with Patagonia (not knives but hugh end gear haha)

The warranty is out the window with most companies if the knife is truly altered, and anodizing doesn't really fall under that category. Don't expect zt to work on your medium-heavily moded knives.

That being said, ZT/KAI customer service is absolutely top notch. They sent me free hardware and knife clips when i inquired about buying extras and the warranty department is fantastic!

ZT are my favorites. I've asked for new clips and other minor hardware items a few times, and I always get every piece of hardware for my particular knife, sometimes three of each! They're quick, extremely helpful, and supportive with instructions on issues. Benchmade is a close second, but these guys are tops.

Just curious, what will you do if you receive the knife in worse condition than before? Just saying don't get your hopes up. If it comes back better, then great and you'll be happy. If it comes back worse, well, then you'll be just another person who's had it happen to them and you won't be overly bitter from the company dashing your high hopes. I'm glad you're happy that they say they fixed your knife without actually verifying they fixed your knife. If only all businesses made claims without anyone verifying anything and if only all customers accepted what companies told them without verifying anything we'd be in a much better world...

But seriously, it's really a good thing that the company will work on a product with a manufacturing defect after someone else worked on a different aspect of the product that has nothing to do with what failed. Like car companies, or lawnmower companies, or gun companies, or pretty much every company out there who provides a warranty. Like awhile ago I painted my car a different color than what the factory painted it, then the transmission went out and they fixed the problem. That's stellar warranty service.

For real though, it is good to see a knife company do what's par for the course in most other industries. Most knife companies don't and it's rather shameful.
