I would like to share a recent warranty service experience.I sent in a ZT301 S30V for sharpening and torsion bar replacement. The ZT301 came back with what I would call a low beveled coarse edge which was razor sharp with grind marks on the edge but now, passes my hard apple test without wedging the two halves apart but actually cuts.Another plus, they did a wonderful job replacing the torsion bar as it now fires hard, even with a light nudge of the thumbstud. Now the bad, they apparently bevel the edge of frame-lock bar face and the grinded the lock face on the blade.Present lockup is about 60%.I don't understand why they would do this as the lockup was fine,at 50 %.On top of this,I now notice a couple of dings on the spine of the blade.

For this experience,I am a little hesitant to send my knives in for warranty service even though it's great they sent parts out but not all parts as before.

It is possible there was an issue with the lockface that you did not know about, but was found while they serviced it. Typically ALL issues they find will be fixed, unless you explicitly say a NO. It is a good idea to indicate what you do not want to be done - for e.g., many times I do indicate the knife need not be sharpened if I am happy with the existing sharpness. They may be a Notes, or Reason for Warranty section where I indicate as much information as I can (or just add another page).
