Zero Tolerance Knives !!!

I read that they are will be sold to LEO and military only. I was looking forward to owning one myself. The ZT100 I believe is the cheapest one, but still a bit costly. $200 I think, but with G10 handles and its an AO.

You would think that if there was a demand for it knives from everyday joes, that they would sell it to the regular public.

Kershaw isn't selling these only to military and LEOs. I'm not sure what their timeline is, though I know they were supposed to be shipped March/April. They have said several times that they have a specific sales plan for the Zero Tolerance (ZT) knives. They will first release ZT knives to specialty "Cop Shops" and other places where the LEO/Military people who these knives are primarily designed for will have a "first crack" at them. After a time they plan to open sales to other locations, but they will NOT be selling these in the wide market. As far as I understand, it'll be specialty stores where the MSRP is the price, and no substantial discounts will be happening. Kinda like their high-end kitchen knives.

Really, it makes sense. If you want Military/LEO people to have the best chance of getting the knives, then you're going to want to keep the general population of knife knuts from getting at them. Lets face it, when other brands put out something like this, one word on a forum like this and the places that have them are sold out in a heartbeat. As far as using only specific retailers, I understand that because of the cause these knives support. I'd buy one if only because some (all  ) the profits from the knives go to support programs for disabled veterans.

Anyhoo, that is all

Also making collabaration with Strider Kershaw stepping on Buck plate who has exclusive on Strider design. I remember rumors being discussed here before. So it is also may be the reason why ZTs will not be too widely awailable, if awailable at all, even it is a great knives.

Tad Gear already has them in pricelist but for LEO only and without pictures.

Thanks, Vassili.

Wow, there seems to be a lot of mis-information concerning the ZT line.

Death's Head I will address your comments first:

ZT will be available for public consumption, but as SpyderJon mentioned it just won't be through your regular outlets. We are currently establishing a base of dealers that cater to LE/Military/ and Public Safety individuals. Most of these types of places do sell to the public as well.
The ZT line-up will be done in fairly limited quantity, so it was important we establish a group of dealers that cater to these types of pro's. You will be able to get ZT, but will have to go outside of your normal knife pick up places. The ZT line does not have a distributor/jobber program, so you won't find these at discounted outlets.

Also the 100 series is not the least expensive, but in fact the highest price knife. I think you have the models confused. Here is a link to the website. The site is still being developed, but basic info is up, thanks for the patience as we continue to get set up.

beef, I don't think we have come off with any claims or advertising to warrant comments like yours. We are just making a line of high end products for those that will really use and appreciate them. I know quite a few folks that are really looking forward to putting 3V to the test, and I am glad we are producing it for them.

There are currently 3 automatics on the table, and I believe they will all be produced.

Vassili, ZT and Strider didn't step on Buck's plate, and please be careful in putting fact into the rumor mill. This collaboration has nothing to do with availability.

laCie, the first articles of the ZT line will be produced next week. The majority of the ZT line will be out next month.

The only one I'm really interested in is the fixed blade. But if I have to hunt for them like Easter eggs, and pay full MSRP, all I can say is there are plenty of other fish in the sea. :)

Torz, who said anything about having to hunt for them like easter eggs and pay MSRP?

The ZT line is not a mass produced line, so you won't find them like you can a standard Kershaw knife. With these limited quantities being produced we opted to send them to dealers that have more access to Military/LE/PS folks. I'm sure there will be some ZT dealers you are familiar with that you will be able to pick one up.

As you all know, when a product comes out that is considered higher end, and is limited in it's availability, a lot of times the where, and how much can change from our normal buying patterns. WH, CRK, Striders, MT, Busse, come to mind when talking knives.

I guess I don't understand, is there a problem?

No problem, I think it may be me that doesn't understand. This part:

led me to believe they won't be easy to find (i.e. have to hunt for them). Whenever there is a limited quantity of something in high demand, I don't even waste my time scrambling for it. I don't fight the crowds to see a show on opening night either, that's just the kind of guy I am.

I know places to buy most of those knives, most of them are just knife dealers, not geared to just military / LE folks. Although I am a veteran, I don't spend much time shopping for tactical gear and I'm not sure what kind of sites I should be looking at to find ZT knives. Do you mean like TADGEAR?

Led me to believe they won't be discounted, i.e. sell at MSRP. I may have misinterpreted the word "discount" to mean selling something for less than MSRP.

The dealers are currently being established, and we should have a list of them over the next week or so.

I have spoken personally with Mike at TadGear, and believe he will be offering the ZT line-up.

can't speak for tadgear, but their site currently has a little note next to the ZT knives banner: Military and LE sales only.

if all dealers do this, then looks like i'm fresh outta luck. sucks for me...:(

Sorry, I didn't mean any disrespect to your knife line. I think dealer's like TAD are just about as likely to be frequented by non-LEO/military types. If you want to get more of these into the hands of people you'd like you might be better off at ranger joes or commanders or military stores outside of bases.

A friend of mine called them, they are just getting the materials in the last week or two, so it will be a while before anything is seen.i think the fixed blades are first.i gotta get that folder with the tan handles!!!

ok Thomas :) i had the money for the strider/kershaw a/o ... but i blew the wad on another knife ...hehehe... so take your time with the release

Seems these knives are bit pricey. I am really intersted in the folders. Does anyone know what kind of locks they are? Please don't let them be liner locks.
