I've been waiting for this knife since SHOT show 2012 - 11 Months!!!

I was finally able to get one and I love it. While its a slightly hefty 5.3oz its nice and thin so it carries really well in your pocket and because the one side is steel there are no underclip ripping your pocket apart issues.

Good review!
I would prefer 3-d machining instead of a smooth side but thats nitpicking, i'm still going to buy one (when i can find one in Canada).
Thats the size i wanted my 0560 to be!

Agreed on the 560. I really wanted one of those since I couldn't find an XM, but they are just too huge! I looked at the 550, but really wanted the flipper.

After de-assisting mine I feel the 0566 has exceeded my expectations. It's very good but is it perfect? I'd say no, but with its price it is hard to beat. Between the 0770 and 0566 I think 0566 is the better choice.

Mine wasn't so good unassisted. Definitely required some wrist flip Not a smooth as I have seen on others. I re-assisted mine. What do you like better about it compared to the 770?

I'm not a fan of the aluminum handle. the 0770cf looks much better to me. Also I just noticed that 0770 doesn't have a lanyard hole.

Correct. The lack of a lanyard hole doesn't put the kibosh on it for me. But because of my preferred carry method, I would much prefer had it been designed with one.

I love my 566. I bought is specifically because of the size and the smooth stainless steel side. With wearing suits to work, pockets get really torn up with 3D machining. Sure it could be lighter, but still very impressed.

Sadly mine came out of the box off center and with a deformed liner :( it should be back from ZT's warranty sometime next week :D

Mine couldn't flip very well without having the pivot pretty loose while having an off center blade. My detent was pretty weak too. Has anyone else had these issues.

So you carry it in your pants pocket with a suit? Seems like it'd be a little heavy for that.

Nice review. After watching it I went looking for one and placed an order. I plan on de-assisting mine as soon as I get it.

I love mine after de-assisting. Just wish the detent was a bit stronger, the blade can fall out pretty easily without tightening up the pivot. I tightened it up and it still flips decent with the push button technique. Blade is centered, lockup is tight and all around a beauty.

Sadly, it has been replaced with my new Spyderco Southard.

De-assisting is *the* way to enjoy the 0566, it actually fixed the blade centering for me. Luckily my detent is strong enough. I also like the extra pointy parts where the thumb studs meet the handle frame. Seems like it would make a good blunt strike point.

I consider the southard in another class, it's more expensive afterall. I was just handling both of them yesterday and noticed my thumb likes to move past the jimping marks on 0566, and rest on the swedge which is not very comfortable. The southard's spine is nice and broad, perfect for thumb pressure during use.

I kind of wish I got this instead of the 0770. The 0770 is a good knife I am just not falling in love with the blade shape. I like Hinderer's designs just can't afford a true one. Nice review.

566 has kicked every other knife out of my pocket I dont see any other knife getting back in there anytime soon. Thank You Hinderer and KAI for getting this knife right!
