ZeroTolerance 0566 - perfect EDC? (video review)

Nice review,thanks.

I got mine this afternoon and the only thing that bugs me about it is hard it is to flip out?
I have had a Thermite for a little while now and compared to that and the Cryo my index finger will not last too long if this does not loosen up somewhat.

I also have a 0550 and it is soooooo much smoother than the 556 it is a little depressing really.

So I really like it almost and wonder if de-assisting would affect the flip tension or make it even worse?
It flips completely just needs a huge effort at first.

My was extremely difficult to open as assisted (I've heard of the same problem from many users).
I had it de-assisted immediately but took good amount of time to break-in (3 weeks of regular useage).
It's butterly smooth now with firm detent (I can open with flipper and thumb stop with ease).
I wish the cut out on the scale is little larger for easier disengagement of frame lock.

So I took out the spring and can't really get it flipping with out the assist or extreme wrist flipping to jerk it open.
Granted I am new at this but I can't get it to work this way?

SO I re-installed the spring and tweaked the pivot for a while and now it flips much more easily somehow with the spring back in there!

Maybe they do not really "Tune" them at the factory and just let them go based on being assembled and looking OK?

I had sort of the same problem. I'd heard of all the greatness of it de-assisted so I tried it. It definitely wasn't going to open all the way without a little wrist flip, but I've seen others that open with just the push of the index finger. I don't like closing it with the spring bar back in there since it stops at the point the bar engages, but I like opening it much better. On the tuning thing - when I put it back together it wasn't opening so well until I loosened the pivot screw slightly and now its great again.

I must've gotten lucky with mine. It flips great without wrist flip. The only problem I have is a tiny bit of play with blade is closed. Maybe the detent hole was drilled a bit too large.

I just got one today. I am really happy about its size. De-assisting is tempting! but is think I will it leave as is. If I ever get two, I may de-assist one of them.

It's easy to do and you can re assist if you don't like it. You should give it a try. Pretty quick and easy and then you will know if you like it or not.

+1 for de-assisting.

As for the flipping action of a de-assisted, use the push button technique. It's almost like pushing it straight into the handle rather than a sweep across the top. It may take a few try's at first but once you get it down it's tough to go back.

I was debating between the 0566 and the 0550 and ended up going with the 0550 for now.

It's not that I don't like the 0566 but it bears too similar a resemblance to my 0560 and I'm pretty happy with my 0560 at the moment.

I might revisit the 0566 if they make a black DLC version.

I'd love to get a 560, but the thing is just too huge to EDC.

Doesn't the 0560 use those KAI bearings? I think the 0566 uses nylon or bronze phosphor washers so it will never be as smooth opening.
I've gotten used to the flipper on my 0566 and it works smooth as silk after a few 100 flips.
