Zilla family

it seems like you'll end up with a wider arc for wrist based swings and snaps like you would on the KZII since the top curvature ends right on top of the gaurd (instead of above the index finger), but a less comfortable choked up grip since it has the point at the top. Even though having a shorter handle might seem like it would give the knife a more "locked in" feel, I don't know if that will be the case with the proto handle, because the curve for the hand to rest in on the back of the handle is actually significantly longer, potentially allowing the palm to slip up and down during chopping.

This isn't the best image in the world, but the idea is that your hand can wrest in a 'chopping grip' anywhere below the red line. The TTKZ keeps the palm lower then on the Proto, giving you more of a 'one grip' handle.

That comes into play for wrist snaps:

and possibly in top grip position

Some interesting observations there LVC .... I see what you mean with the choked grip point and the TTKZ having a specific groove in the grip to place your thumb on the spine as opposed to a "point" at the end of the grip on the "proto" ...

Picking up on the TTKZ grip finishing it's palm swell over the fore finger ... and the proto swell finishing infront of the forefinger is also something I missed ... but the effect of that may not be fully known until the grip is used ... although I see what you mean about the potential to have the grip on the spine slide forward of the forefinger ... whereas with the TTKZ the grip would remain "locked in" ...

Your pic's and " red line" diagram shows what you mean clearly .... and it would be interesting to consider these points if comparing them both ...

Took a few pics of the Proto KZ. No comments other than to again note it feels good holding it by the the middle of the handle, and it's a very short slide to the positions up and down from that position.

Nice looking Proto there  Your thoughts on how it performs when you decide to give it a work out would be welcome
