Zip tie waved Delica

Hello all. I realize this topic has probably been beaten into the ground already but I can't get the search feature to work.

Anyway I have a plain Delica 4 that I love, and recently tried the zip tie wave method on it. It's probably more fun than useful, although there are a good number of situations where it comes in very handy. But I wondered if using the wave feature is bad for the knife, and could harm the lock bar, cause screws to work loose, or anything else.

Thanks in advance!

No damage to the knife, but depending how much you use it, the zip-tie "wave" will damage your pants. A true Wave blade will do this less.

I always thought the "Wave" was some kind of gimmick......until I bought one. Now I wouldn't dream of carrying anything but a Waved blade for work. I often have to use my knife with "my hands full" and it's so much easier to "just pull out my Endura" and have it instantly ready.
It's also cool to go up to one of my buddies that carries a switchblade and challenge them to see who can deploy their blade first......I win every time.
...and I could buy 6.8 Spyderco's for the price of their switchblades.

I have a Waved Endura. I don't find it more useful than other similarly sized Spydercos from the pocket.

I don't own one (and don't really have a desire to), but this is my perception also. You still need one free hand to pull the knife from your pocket, so it doesn't seem very advantageous to save that extra second or less it would take to open the knife using the thumb hole. And what if you just want to remove the knife from your pocket without opening it? You then have to use care not to accidentally snag the Wave on your pants while removing it. Or perhaps you want to deploy the knife in a more subdued fashion rather than like some sort of tactical operator, in which case the Wave is again not very advantageous. I suppose I can see the benefit in a pure self-defence scenario, but for a work or EDC knife it doesn't seem like much of a useful feature to me.

The problem with the view that your taking, is that it doesn't take into account the absolute awesomness of the wave. The "cool" factor. :p

I don't really need a waved Delica, but I find it so #$%^& awesome to wave it open.... I almost laugh every time I open it.

It's not hard to open it without using the wave, and I also find it alot nicer when my hands are full- I dont need to re-arrange the knife in my hand inorder to get my thumb to the hole.
no real dissadvantages to having a waved knife- it's a great feature IMO

It is also useful when you work on a car and one had has a wrench in it and the other needs to cut some tubing or somthing. The wave feature also works as a great bottle opener!:D
