Ziricote

Anyone familiar with Ziricote wood? Does it need stabilizing or is it like Cocobolo and other rosewoods? Thanks for any info.

I've used ziricote and I don't think you need to stabilize it. I may even have some around in my wood box. Just oil it a bit from time to time.

I have used it unstabilized and had no problems. Sand to 600 and buff with whit/pink rouge. It takes a nice shine. Some neat patterns can show up when it is shaped into a handle.

Thanks for the replies. I had a chance to obtain a small amount at a very reasonable price, but have not used it before.
