'Zombie knives' ban to come into force - BBC

i saw that article on another site yesterday, maybe skynews.

what cracked me up was some politician or political cop spokesperson or whatnot saying (and i'm paraphrasing, not quoting)........this was necessary and would reduce violent crime....all while i'm thinking a kitchen knife is cheaper and easier to conceal with a cardboard homemade sheath and use than any of those monstrosities. typical uk politics. violent crime with edged weapons and fist and feet, etc is skyrocketing and they are worried about knives a kid or video gamer movie fan, etc would like and buy. although in fairness the bulk of the American public and politicians, etc follows right behind this nonsense in lack of critical thinking skills and knee jerking emotional ideals......

We had a recent assault in Windsor with a brick.
Now I know that apologists from the building labourers lobby will say that bricks are essential to building things, but they obviously just want our youth to be victimized by those who push the pro-brick agenda, making thugs think of bricks as a status symbol.

Consider the facts:
-Buildings can be made of wood
-If bricks are so essential, why aren't more roads made of them?
-People have made houses with simple mud and straw, without going through the needlessly deadly brick phase.

Think of the children, ban the brick today!

USA Today article featured a photo with 7 example knives. All had toxic green handles and coated black blades. Clearly the colors make them dangerous. Politicians are geniuses.

Lol.
You win the Internets.

Btw there is this new invention which allows gangsters to make weapons of any kind and shape. Supposedly one guy even cast an arrow head from that "concrete", whatever that is.

That sounds pretty dangerous...better ban it too. ;)

Somebody has obviously been playing The Last of Us, and understands the value of a good brick.

Perhaps. :D

Here's (part of) the original story:

"A 23-year-old man on scene told officers he had been hit in the head with a brick.

Windsor police said the man was with a friend when they observed a 36-year-old male and female that he knew in the alleyway near his residence.

The group started to argue and the 36-year-old struck the man in the head with a brick.

Police said the man then retaliated by stabbing the 36-year-old in the stomach. The man and woman then fled the scene."

Maybe they were just playing a friendly game of Paper-Rock-Scissors-Brick-Knife. ;)

Hmm... So, if these were to be legal to own in the UK, and I believe they are... Would I be looking at the possibility of charges for 2 of these 4 purely for the word "combat" if a local official decided to press the issue of "words of violence" being inscribed on the blade, even as part of the maker's mark? Would the UK eventually "slide" down to banning these and/or charging those in possession?

Jaxx-

More than likely, because their terminology promotes violence against others, and may motivate someone to ask in a negative fashion against others because the word "combat" told them to, and they had no choice but to comply.
