So, I'm going to ask a critical question about all of these green zombie-marketed blades:

Are any of them actually good knives?

Furthermore, does anyone here own any of them? Could you tell us how you feel about them?

You might get a reply if you named companies, showed pics & supplied details.

I think the problem with zombie knives is you won't be able to tell how well they truly work until we have a zombie outbreak and by that point it may very well be too late to log on here and post a legit review...right?

This is my zombie knife

I don't give a fig for zombie advertising, but I like the toxic green bit. Bright handles are a load easier to find if you set the knife down and it breaks up the ubiquitous sea of black.

I have used the KABAR ZK knives & they pretty good, but a bit gimmicky. 1095 Crovan, full tang & the sheaths are decent.

Not bad choice if you are on a budget, but if I had to choose between a KABAR ZK knife & a KABAR BK knife, I would pick the BK.

I just ordered a Zombie death killer dagger for my brother who collects. Was very cheap on knife center this weekend and they had free shipping yesterday.

It's a long piece of soft SK5 steel. Looks like it will make a great froe.

Do you mean the bright green color?
I know lots of people use that and call it "zombie" green or whatever.
Esee, Microtech, lots of others... All good companies,,,
Or are you talking about one knife in particular?

FYI, Esee makes no reference to Zombies but rather calls their green a high visibility venom green.

I like Zombie movies or TV shows. A little tuckered out from the whole weekend that included staying up late flipping between football, baseball, and The Walking Dead/Talking Dead last night.

Turns out I also like knives. Put them together and I am a happy camper. I also like the way the venom green goes with black. For me their is no practical use for this fad. I don't need the high visibility as I am not one to forget where I put down my knife while using it and I doubt I will need them for a true Zombie apocalypse. But when has practical reasoning ever conflicted with my knife collecting?

I recently got the Ka-Bar Zombie Knives Swabbie. I knew I wanted one when they came out. I forgot about it for a while. Glad I did! You can find them for under $70 shipped now. That is a hell of a price for an 18", .25" thick, piece of 1095 Cro-Van! It is actually decently thin at the edge so it might actually cut well. Don't know yet. Haven't used it. I also have an Esee 4 in venom green that I dyed the handles black. Great looking knife! I have another Esee 4 that I actually use. Like the Esee 4, my TGLB isn't designed with zombies in mind but it is the quintessential zombie knife in my eyes. Some pics for size reference and coolness.

I've never understood how making something green would make it better at killing zombies. Maybe they just dont like that color?

I'm not sure what all your "zombie knives" label encompasses, but the Ka-bar ones are certainly fine, fully functional blades. They're made in 1095 Cro-Van(older models in SK-5, either is a fine blade steel for what are basically big camp knives), full tang, with your basic polymer handle(they all come with additional black scales, if you dislike the "toxic green" ones), and a functional(albeit somewhat bulky) sheath(complete with a small skeletonized fixed blade). If you took a "zombie killer" knife like the Ka-bar War Sword, Famine Tanto, or Pestilence Chopper, ditched the "zombie" label, sold them with just the black scales on and called them say, the Ka-Bar Combat Bolo, Heavy Tanto, and Billhook Chopper, not one person would question their quality as knives.

Oh, and yeah, I have the Pestilence Chopper, War Sword, and the Chop Stick. One of these days I'll pick up a Swabbie but I haven't got to it yet. So many knives, so little time(and money)...

Yes, sorry, what I meant is that lots of companies use that color or something similar,, with many different names..venom/toxic/zombie/etc...

Nice TGLB btw !

Most companies that go for the "zombie" theme are aiming towards impulse purchases and are not generally of high quality.

Microtech is the only company I know of that produces quality cutlery with a "zombie" theme. I think the reason for this dearth of quality zombie cutlery is that most people who are going to shell out $100-$500 on a pocket knife don't want it to look like it came out of Big Al's Discount Halloween Store.

I do not consider microtech quality. Their record of customer service is absolutely shameful. Ka-Bar on the other hand is quality. Don't know about their folders but their fixed blades have a long legacy of top notch price to quality ratio. The zombie knife I have from them is a quality product backed up with quality customer service. Might not be useful but neither is owning 25 higher end production folders. I'm a knife nut.

I do agree though that most of the mall ninja stuff is crap, but that doesn't really change because they put some green or blood color paint on. Generally, if their "zombie" knives are crap, so are the rest of their knives.

No worries and thanks! It is a hell of a knife that has seen some serious use!

Microtech makes quality products that I wouldn't buy - that's how I would put it. Really nice knives, but with BS proprietary hardware, terrible ethics, and awful customer service. I carried a DOC briefly, and then realized that if it ever developed a problem, I would be without it for ages because I can't even adjust the stupid pivot. I boxed it up and posted it for sale once I came to that realization. It's a shame, too, because I really like the Whaleshark and DOC designs.

I agree completely except that the caveats make them not a quality product to me. Forgot about the proprietary pivot. Adds insult to injury.

Zombie tools outta Missoula. Enough to slay a zombie and cinder blocks and not obnoxious colors :) As for their designs, that may be subjective
