"Zombie" knives

I've been jonseing for some of Kabar's ZK line for a while, especially the Pestilence Chopper. I'd swap on the black grip scales, and have a nice chopping knife. Pestilence choppers can be had for under $50 right now, and they get good reviews. A 10" blade of high quality 1095CV with Kabar's warrantee to back it up, and an effect chopping design is good for a lot more than just re-corpsifying the undead.

Zombie tools outta Missoula. Enough to slay a zombie and cinder blocks and not obnoxious colors :) As for their designs, that may be subjective

What I was thinking when I read the thread title. Not green, but full of undead marketing.

Ka-Bar makes some solid, quality "zombie" knives.
They work for all your camping needs. :)

People with a severe allergy to fun tend to get cranky at the mere sight of them. ;)
That can be a bonus, depending on how you look at it. :D

It's a stupid theme and the color jobs look ugly - though in most cases I was never interested in the base model of any "zombie knife" to begin with.

Aha, thanks for the replies, everyone.

I was referring to all generalized zombie-themed marketing for knives, with the Kabar ZK line as a prime example.

I'm familiar with Zombie Tools, but unfamiliar with their prices. As can be expected with blades handmade by a few guys in a shop, they appear to be both exemplary and well beyond my price range right now. The ZK knives are much closer to what I'd prefer to pay these days, and appear to be good quality.

Anyone know how different their SK-5 is from 1095 CV? The impression that I get is that it's just not as good, but I'd like to know from people who have used them.

Not a fan of the Zombie theme knives. Seems most are cheap. .02

Well, don't know what "cheap" means (inexpensive? low quality? Both?). Might want to explain your comment a bit and give us your experience with these knives. The Ka-Bar line are of good quality (you know, materials, fit/finish, great company that backs them up) and are now inexpensive

Oh yeah, gonna get me one of each of these:

Because it makes sense to get as close to theoretical zombies as possible...;):D

Basically 1055 vs 1095. The 1095 is superior, but not mindblowingly so.

I have an Izula in "venom green". It's a good colour for that knife because it makes it very difficult to lose. Those blood-splattered ones sure are pointless, though. How am I supposed to know what blood is fake and what's real if I happen to cut a zombie (or more realistically, myself) with one of those?

Much like Zombiemax ammunition, Zombie knives only work on the undead. (At least that's what I tell the people drooling over the zombiemax ammo at the gunshow.)

Found another gem; zombieknifegun FTW!

Side note, I had a kabar war sword zombie killah; it was a great knife. So, there are a couple in the herd of many, many crappy knives that are at least good quality.

This was the version I had; no pry bar pommel thinger.

Exactly. As it turns out a quality company with a great reputation puts out a good product, zombie themed or not.

One thing to keep in mind is that

Kabar had a clearance section that should be with keeping an eye on.
;)

So, I'm going to ask a critical question about all of these green zombie-marketed blades:

Are any of them actually good knives?

Furthermore, does anyone here own any of them? Could you tell us how you feel about them?

The companies that generally manufacture good quality knives also make good quality zombie knives. The ones that typically produce cheap crappy knives, also produce cheap crappy zombie knives. At least that's my observation.

"Zombie Tools" knives & tools look interesting if you like "apocalyptic" style. Although I don't have personal experience, they appear to be of good quality or better. They're certainly not cheap.

Good timing as I was just looking at a Hogue ZX-F01 Zombie-X.
I wouldn't own a Zombie knife but it's a good quality slab of A2.
