I recently became the proud owner of Tigris Panthera's Zombie Light Chopper. TP used it well, as you can see from these pictures.
Now, let me say that I didn't find anything wrong with it, as it was. I think the character is actually a nice thing. However, I sort of like to give my blades their own war wounds. Almost like "memorial scars" that remind me of a time and place. With that in mind, I decided it would be nice to get the Zombie back in some kind of more pristine condition, so I contacted forum member AZTimT to see if he would do a little refurbing.
It's on the way back to me now, but I am pretty happy with the way it looks from the pictures he sent me and I wanted to share them with you all...
In addition to grinding the chips out of the swedge, Tim blasted the antique micarta handles and applied a satin/stripetition finish to the blade so that it would match the swedge. I actually loved the stonewash finish it had before, but I figured that the newly ground swedge would look a little odd if the rest of the finish didn't match it a bit more, plus I was intrigued to see what Tim's signature finish would look like. I actually really love two-tone flats with satin bevels, as well, so I am particularly keen on this.
Once I get it, I'll definitely add some more "real life" type shots if anyone is interested. They won't be as high def or as classy as Tim's pics, but maybe could show how it looks in different lighting.
Oh, and @AZTimT was really great to work with. Absolutely a gentleman, great customer service, very reasonable prices, and first class craftsman all the way!
