I grew up shooting old US military rifles, namely the M1 Garand, M14, and AR15. The M14/M1A1 has a special place in my heart as it's Dad's rifle-of-choice. I killed my first deer with one.
I've never seen a carbine length one in the configuration as yours though. That thing is a beautiful beast. It looks like something Space Marines would use on Aliens, and I can dig it. That's a whole lotta power in a maneuverable length.

you got what i would have, you dont need a lot of penetration in the case of zombies, you just need to be able to shoot other people in the leg and outrun them 
P.S. When ever you take pics of your guns, put at least one hollowpoint in the top of the mags, makes it look better
