ZT 0121 and ESEE 5 for camping combo

Speaking from real world experience, those knives would be a terrible choice. Thick and heavy knives only make the work that much harder. They are also redundant in size.

Your folder and a axe would be the best choice. A 4in fixed and a axe is also another good combo.

Some knives that have worked well for me,
Case stockman
Sodbuster
Spyderco delica
Spyderco endura
Spyderco military
Mora 2000 (best of all)

It honestly sounds like u really want the zt. If ur hearts set on it and u don't get it you'll most likely regret it. I know this from experience.

Havin said that I have to agree with the majority here in that his combo is not ideal. I would have to go with the esee 4/6 and maybe an izula. I own all three and can attest to their abilities to handle anything short of falling a full grown pine. Good luck with your search.

I switch between an axe, a tomahawk, and the ESEE Junglas for chopping/heavy stuff. I also bring a saw. If you're set on having a knife for heavier chores, I'd suggest the Junglas or BK9, simply because the extra length somewhat negates the extra weight. Personally, I love my Junglas, but I switched it out for a 14" Tramontina trail machete, because I've never had a machete fail on me for anything, including cutting down smaller trees, plus the thinner blade translates to a more useful, multipurpose tool. Now if only one of these machete companies would bring the grind all the way to the handle, I'd be happy.

My Esee 5 loves to go out camping, especially teamed up with a folder that slices well, like the Spyderco Military, but also with plain old sak like the Farmer or Huntsman.
I agree with others that the 5 is heavy and the Esee 4 is a more alround knife, but once you have the urge for an Esee 5 I suggest you statisfy it :D

And this thread needs some pictures:
