Zt 0200 liners light rust

thanks for all the help guys, your help is greatly appreciated and truly... well helpful
both the tuf cloth/glide and the boeshield t-9 sound like they will work for me but i think im going to go with the t-9 because i can run by west marine tomorrow and pock some up, that way my beloved zt will be back in my pocket by tomorrow evening.

i like the idea of the tuf cloth being impregnated in a rag for easy application and if i had another zt or quality knife to hold me over I would probably order it but im missing my zt so the quicker option is my best option.

thanks again everyone for all the help.

Since I use the tuf cloth on most of my knives, particularly the fixed blades, I usually wear rubber gloves. Not strictly necessary I don't believe, but I use that stuff so much to clean and lubricate metal that I believe it's best to be on the safe side when frequent use is involved. Otherwise, just wash your hands well after applications.

what effect are you worried its going to have on your hands?

Well, they will keep them for rusting, I'll say that. ;) No specific concerns, just following the recommendation written by the manufacturers of the product. It says on the Tuff-Cloth/Glide packages to wash your hands after using. Since I clean several knives at a time on a fairly frequent basis I choose to take that advice. But then that's just me.

Mineral spirits are used to suspend the dry lubricants in many of those types of products. It isn't particularly toxic when absorbed via the skin, but, can cause contact dermatitis. If you are going to use them alot, use gloves:

Doc with mention that Mineral Spirits is the carrier agent:

It's not too nasty, but, not particularly good for you.... most petroleum distillates aren't too good for you. Better safe than sorry.

Back to the OP, I use Flitz then Tuf-Glide. Stops rusting problems and polishes everything up and makes it sliky smooth.
