ZT 0200 or Spyderco D'Allara?

Owned both. Got rid of both. ZT was too thick in the pocket, D'Allara was too wide. Preferred the edge of the Spydie and it was a real smooth opener.

ZT is good value for the money especially if you can find a pre-owned one on the forums. Both are good stout blades.

If I had to keep one, it would be the D'allara. On a side note, I'd save an extra "C" note and look around for a used Strider.

Save an extra "C" note how? A used Strider would still run more than a new ZT0200 and new Spyderco D'Allara combined.

To pepper, the OP...it really sounds like you need both, because they are truly different knives...

I'd EDC the D'Allara for less pocket bulge and take the ZT0200 on those day hikes...:D

Ray :)

since you're using it as a backup for a fixed blade, get the d'allara. it'll allow you to carry a stouter fixed blade than you might ordinarily, and give you a lot more flexibility in your cutting tasks. if you want two knives with locks that won't fail, no matter what, and be super strong, all the time, then just carry two fixed blades.
that said, get the ZT, too, if you can swing it, just on its own merits. it's not like you're ever gonna have enough knives anyway. :D

As many of my forespeakers noted, those are pretty different knives. It's like comparing apples with oranges.
For hiking I'd go with a Manix or a Military (my favorite for outdoors) to take care of general cutting chores. Especially the Military is big and lightweight and the blade geometry makes for a great slicer.
The ZT is a great knife, no doubt about it. It's just that I don't need a folder to use like a fixed blade. I simply get a fixed blade for this...

It has been said before you can not compare these two knives to each other.

They are very different and each has it's on pros and cons.

Try the Manix, Chinook or even the lil'temp.

They are probably the only folders that match up imo to the ZT series costs quite a bit less.

I'm a hardcore spydie nut, but given your choices I would choose Kershaw as well. :D

Spend a little extra and just get a 300:p

take care
