Hey Joejeweler,
wow that Lava got there quick!
It seems as though yesterday was like an early CHRISTmas for a couple other people as well some of the contest winners who recieved their ZT0200 giveaways from you that was a very kind & generous thing for you to do with the 3 (turned into 5) knife giveaway.
It may sound strange but I am actually feel good to have given you my Spyderco 2006 Forum Lava, I trust you will like the Lava as much as I do & since you were unselfishly giving your three - I mean five knives away I thought you should recieve something for your kindness & understanding as well.
I am not a wealth guy by any means just a garden variety laborer / worker so this knife comes from my knife collection but really my heart.
This whole thing started as most of you know when a thread was started on the Spyderco forum basically stating that there was a knife giveaway on the Kershaw forum for 3 Kershaw ZT 0200's & to come over & vote for Chad Los Banos aka Daywalker, well the response was quick & alittle overwhelming for some & there were some ruffled feathers because of it I dont want to rehash the events we know what happened, in the end Joejeweler decided to give Daywalker a ZT 0200 knife so in the same spirit of fairness & generousity I then offered Joejeweler my own Spyderco 2006 Forum Lava designed by Daywalker which seemed to me a no brainer.
I read with interest & some joy your post about getting the box with the lava yesterday but not being able to open it until the end of the day because of your customers you were too busy & then how when you did finally get to open it you put it to use right away even looking for things to do with it & telling us how that cute little knife fit well in your hand & rose up to any & all the tasks you threw at it & you even found time for a slight manicure : ) I like your humor I was laughing as I was reading your words.
Here are the features of this great knife.
Description
During work hours Chad Los Banos is a Corrections Officer on Hawaii's Big Island. On his free time he is hobbyist who practices martial arts and collects knives. In both is job and on his free time he handles knives, lots of them in all shapes and sizes. This motivated him to develop his own knife design he calls the Lava. The Lava's form follows function approached piqued Spyderco's interest and a collaborative knife design was the result. The Spyderco/Los Banos Lava has a long curving handle paired with a short blade. The blade's cutting edge drops downward creating a negative blade angle, a positive feature when holding the knife. The negative angle positions the blade's cutting edge lower than the user's index finger so the wrist is in alignment. When the blade and wrist align, you can cut longer with less fatigue and better leverage. Chad's design philosophy was not to force the hand to fit the knife, but have the knife conform to the hand- any sized hand be it large or small. He kept the blade under two inches and Spyderco manufactures it in VG-10 stainless steel, PlainEdged and flat-ground. The stainless steel handle curves ergonomically with a cutaway finger choil, pronounced enough to seriously wrap a hand around and solidly grip. A backlock with a Boye safety dent, locks the blade open and a steel pocket clip positions the (closed) knife, tip facing downward, in the pocket.

I think that this whole episode might bring some of us (maybe only 2 of us like it did me & you) in these two knife forums closer together, you never know! I dont think there are any coincidences in life, there is a reason things happen, a purpose & I believe that some new friendships & maybe a new level of understanding will come out of this, bottom line Joe since all this took place I have spent some time on the Kershaw forum & I have ordered a new Kershaw knife because of some of the things I read. I am not new to Keshaw knives by the way I have owned at least a half dozen of them so far but my point is if I am in the Kershaw forum reading & learning & listening maybe the same thing is happening at the Spyderco forum because of all this we are all knife brothers & sisters in the end just because I am a member of one forum does not mean I cant be a member of more than one & I know I dont post alot I will try to add more.
Maybe you could post some photos here of your new lava in your hand or doing some of the jobs you talked about & if you ever decide to engrave it (like you did to your other Spydie the C03 Hunter) which I wholeheartedly encourage you to do then please post some pics of that as well.
Well Joejeweler thanks for your kind words enjoy your new knife.
Take care & God Bless.
