ZT 0200 Three Knife Givaways!

At my age (51),......i'm happy to get anything, including my gumption,....... up from time to time! ;)

.......but so far not feeling it. ;)

Actually,.....i think the brushes in my flexable shaft machine are about wore out,.......the footpedal is slow to respond to pressure. I've got to order a set,......and find some time,.....before i do another one.

Hopefull Kershaw will hear the pent-up demand for the "Baby" ZT 0200. I have already said i would order 50,......and a lot of folks here would also, i'd imagine.

So far,.....no response from the Kai head office,....and if they need mine for a pattern i can send it to them. But i doubt they'll need it,.....they are THAT good!

Joe,
...Have you "got up the gumption" yet?.:D.:D.:D.

And possibly getting dialex to do the same to his post on the spydie forum...

It has been done already... I announced that the contest is over as soon as it was (that means last week). :o
The forumites are a supportive nature, and many of us don't read the whole threads, especially the long ones, please forgive the incidents. :(

George,....

.....the Spyderco "Lava" arrived at my work address today,......and i was dying to get it open right away,......but COULDN'T! Dang customers were one after the other! :grumpy:

I finally got to open the box right around closing time,.....and i must say that knife is really solid, (all stainless construction),.....and kinda "cute".

I say cute because it's certainly not going to scare anyone with it's dimentions,.....but it really lays nice in my medium sized hand and i can see me using this for a lot of daily tasks at the counter and in the back room.

The handle's curvature puts the blade edge in a great position for cutting, and it was a joy to use on a few incoming packages both coming in,......and going out. I even HAD to use it as a letter opener,......a task it was surely over qualified for! But i had fun doing it when i got home and opened my mail.

Re-inforced packing tape can be tough sometimes,.......but not with this puppy! I hate to say it,......but i was "looking" for jobs to perform with the Lava,......even trimed my finger cuticles!

So now i have 2 Spydercos,...my slim blade C3 Hunter from many years ago,..and now the Lava designed by Chad Los Banos,.......AKA "Daywalker".

...i have a feeling i'll be using the Lava alot!

George, Thank you so much!!!

Hello JoeJeweler,

I really like the engraving job you did on that Spyderco knife it is trully a work of art thank you for sharing it with us.

I am kinda flattered you chose to refer to me in one of your posts because I must be the guy you called out in your comment for this >>> another his 3rd post in all of 2 years,....ever!<<<

And it "seemed" kinda funny that one individual posted his very 1st POST for a vote in this giveaway,.....another his 3rd post in all of 2 years,....ever!

Yes so 3 posts in 2 years I am not much of a talker or typer & if I dont have anything to add then I dont.

I was glad to read you changed your mind about Daywalker aka Chad Los Banos & now since thats all over I would like to pay it forward to you.

I would like to give you free of charge my personal 2006 Spyderco Forum Knife only 140 of them were made & it is the C110P Spyderco Lava designed by Chad aka Daywalker.

It is from my personal collection & I just took these photos of it & this knife still has the plastic covering on it it is mint.

I think you will like this Lava knife I know I do ( I have 2 regular production model Lava's also one that I EDC) & it has plenty of room left for you to do some more engraving work like your other Spydie has.

If you are interested in it then please send me your name & mailing info to my email address georgemaggos@cs.com If you dont want it or cant accept it then I understand & keep up the good work here I will be back.

This is not some kind of joke or ruse I am dead serious about this offer I am making you for this knife & I will fullfill my end of it.

So Joe let me know what you want to do :)

Thank You,
George

Hey Joejeweler,

wow that Lava got there quick!

It seems as though yesterday was like an early CHRISTmas for a couple other people as well some of the contest winners who recieved their ZT0200 giveaways from you that was a very kind & generous thing for you to do with the 3 (turned into 5) knife giveaway.

It may sound strange but I am actually feel good to have given you my Spyderco 2006 Forum Lava, I trust you will like the Lava as much as I do & since you were unselfishly giving your three - I mean five knives away I thought you should recieve something for your kindness & understanding as well.

I am not a wealth guy by any means just a garden variety laborer / worker so this knife comes from my knife collection but really my heart.

This whole thing started as most of you know when a thread was started on the Spyderco forum basically stating that there was a knife giveaway on the Kershaw forum for 3 Kershaw ZT 0200's & to come over & vote for Chad Los Banos aka Daywalker, well the response was quick & alittle overwhelming for some & there were some ruffled feathers because of it I dont want to rehash the events we know what happened, in the end Joejeweler decided to give Daywalker a ZT 0200 knife so in the same spirit of fairness & generousity I then offered Joejeweler my own Spyderco 2006 Forum Lava designed by Daywalker which seemed to me a no brainer.

I read with interest & some joy your post about getting the box with the lava yesterday but not being able to open it until the end of the day because of your customers you were too busy & then how when you did finally get to open it you put it to use right away even looking for things to do with it & telling us how that cute little knife fit well in your hand & rose up to any & all the tasks you threw at it & you even found time for a slight manicure : ) I like your humor I was laughing as I was reading your words.

Here are the features of this great knife.

SPC110PLava.jpg

Description
During work hours Chad Los Banos is a Corrections Officer on Hawaii's Big Island. On his free time he is hobbyist who practices martial arts and collects knives. In both is job and on his free time he handles knives, lots of them in all shapes and sizes. This motivated him to develop his own knife design he calls the Lava. The Lava's form follows function approached piqued Spyderco's interest and a collaborative knife design was the result. The Spyderco/Los Banos Lava has a long curving handle paired with a short blade. The blade's cutting edge drops downward creating a negative blade angle, a positive feature when holding the knife. The negative angle positions the blade's cutting edge lower than the user's index finger so the wrist is in alignment. When the blade and wrist align, you can cut longer with less fatigue and better leverage. Chad's design philosophy was not to force the hand to fit the knife, but have the knife conform to the hand- any sized hand be it large or small. He kept the blade under two inches and Spyderco manufactures it in VG-10 stainless steel, PlainEdged and flat-ground. The stainless steel handle curves ergonomically with a cutaway finger choil, pronounced enough to seriously wrap a hand around and solidly grip. A backlock with a Boye safety dent, locks the blade open and a steel pocket clip positions the (closed) knife, tip facing downward, in the pocket.
Specifications:
length overall 5 5/16" (135 mm)
blade length 1 7/8" (48 mm)
blade steel VG-10
length closed 3 7/16" (87 mm)
cutting edge 1 9/16" (40 mm)
weight 3 oz (86.5 g)
hole diameter 15/32" (12 mm)
blade thickness 3/32" (2.5 mm)
handle material Stainless Steel

I think that this whole episode might bring some of us (maybe only 2 of us like it did me & you) in these two knife forums closer together, you never know! I dont think there are any coincidences in life, there is a reason things happen, a purpose & I believe that some new friendships & maybe a new level of understanding will come out of this, bottom line Joe since all this took place I have spent some time on the Kershaw forum & I have ordered a new Kershaw knife because of some of the things I read. I am not new to Keshaw knives by the way I have owned at least a half dozen of them so far but my point is if I am in the Kershaw forum reading & learning & listening maybe the same thing is happening at the Spyderco forum because of all this we are all knife brothers & sisters in the end just because I am a member of one forum does not mean I cant be a member of more than one & I know I dont post alot I will try to add more.

Maybe you could post some photos here of your new lava in your hand or doing some of the jobs you talked about & if you ever decide to engrave it (like you did to your other Spydie the C03 Hunter) which I wholeheartedly encourage you to do then please post some pics of that as well.

Well Joejeweler thanks for your kind words enjoy your new knife.

Take care & God Bless.

Hello Joejeweler,

Have you heard if Chad aka daywalker recieved his knife from the contest yet?

If so did he like it?

Thanks for your time,
George

Hi George,.....i did post that my tracking number showed the ZT 0200 was delivered in Hilo, Hawaii a few days ago.

I haven't seen a post by Chad, however,......so i hope everything is well with him. Come to think of it,.....i don't believe i've seen any posts by Chad on the Spyderco forum either lately..........................

......anybody heard form Chad,....AKA "Daywalker",......of late?

He's often out for a couple of weeks at a time, since he's working in a prison, long hours and the rest. Hopefully he'll have some free time around Christmas.

Just like Th232 said, Chad has a nasty job with long shifts. But I am sure Daywalker will show up and brag with his new knife soon.

Thanks for the heads up on Daywalker,....guys!:)

......just wanted to make sure he didn't hurt himself with the new toy!;)

I can almost see Chad sitting at his prison desk, kicked back in his chair, playing with his ZT 0200 like I do while I'm at work.:D.:D.

You mean i'm not the only knife nut doing that! :D
You know you're a knife knut ...

when you walk around with a sore thumb because you got a new linerlock or framelock and the constant flick/release, flick/release, flick/release has begun to abrade the skin.

You call it a sore thumb,.......

......i call it paying your dues,........

.......getting to know your little friend!:)

Yup, and one of the corners of my left thumbnail isn't lookin' too good now, either, all chipped up.:D.:D.
...And the liner (lock) on the ZT 0200 is a thick one!..

Well,......today i got in a couple of packages,........the Kershaw "Trooper" from kershawguy,.....and
the Camillus CUDA Maxx from Esav Benyamin. Both were gifts,....
..... and will recive a good home by an appreciative recieptient,.......ME! :o

Many thanks to both of you guys,.....and i will truly enjoy owning them both!!! :D
The trooper is certainly well made from a great company,.....and a joy to behold with
the polished steel blade & handle.

As Mister "T" used to say: "I pity the fool who"......tries to break in while i'm sleeping
with THIS by my bedside! :(

The Cuda Maxx will see more actual use,.......probably in my kitchen. It has
one heck of a long blade for a folder! (5 1/2 inches)........and when open
appears scary long!

Were in not illegal to carry concealed in New York State anything over 4
inches, ......this one would make a great neck-carry self defense knive.
It's a titanium frame lock with a polished and TOUGH D2 semi-stainless blade.
And the frame lock construction keeps the thickness down that would also
aid concealment under a shirt. I may still wear it outside my shirt from time to time!

Here's a link to the Cuda Maxx for those who have never seen one:

I must say the "spirit" of both the Kershaw & Spyderco forums is truly wonderful,...
.......i hope that never ends.

Thanks Guys!!!!

Not quite in balance yet, but as soon as Joe sends
me his addy I will send him this Kershaw Trooper from the Kershaw side, then all
things will be in balance. Class act from everyone involved in this event.
Kudos !! Thanks Joe :thumbup::thumbup:

I'm glad you like it! I have carried one in a back pocket with no trouble but it does better on a kitchen counter. :D

Yes,....i've been waiting for Chad to perhaps mention he recieved it on the forum himself,....but he's been pretty busy i'm sure on "the inside" as a corrections officer.

Anyway,....he did recieve it, and emailed me on 12-18-07. I just hope he still has all his fingers! ;)

I also recieved Chad's gift to me of his Boker knife design,.....with a kydex sheath and light shoulder harness. Neat setup!

Here's part of that email from Chad:

Dear Joe,

Hope this finds you warm and well.

Just wanted to confirm reception of the ZT0200. Whoa. That thing is a tank! The more I look at it though, I am wondering...where does the Strider part come into this collab? ;-) Is it in the "build"?

Anyway, I thank you again, and I *should* be able to get out the Boker Plus MPT to you with a Mercharness either this week or next. I been carrying one using the Mercharness under the left side of "armpit", and it's a pretty cool set up.

I just got in from "Hell", and am mentally beat...had to do over 20 UA's...nothing like spending the whole night standing next to an inmate in the stall watching him piss in a cup. Cripes.

Hey, have a very Merry Christmas and God bless you and yours!
Chad
