ZT 0200 washers

Can you get the Benchmade blue lube in Ace or Lowes (a hardware store) or do you have to order it online?

I would think you have to order it. Hopefully others can suggest stuff you can pick up locally.

It is only from some Benchmade retailers, so think Gander Mountain or Cabela's. That said, I have had good success with a variety of far cheaper oils. First is Hoppes 9, available nearly anywhere firearms are sold (including Walmart). Slightly better on some knives is Rem-Oil, available next to the Hoppes in most retailers. If you can find it, a great oil is Breakfree CLP, usually found at gun stores. Branching out from proper gun oils, I have had acceptable success with the cheap as dirt mineral oil, and a bottle will last a lifetime. At some hardware stores you can get Dupont Silicone Teflon liquid, which is nearly as good as Breakfree in my experience, but not that great with bearings (seems to be a little too thin to work right).

OK, thanks! I have 3-in-One and mineral oil I use for the blades. I guess I was hoping for something thicker and, uh, slickerer for the washers that wouldn't rub off as easily over time, like the Silicone Teflon (is that more like a grease?).

try a good coat of paste wax on the washers, use just like you would on a car.its what I use on my kershaws, and zt's when they get sticky or sluggish.

Sounds like a good option - in my experience with this model, wet lube attracts debris and ends up detracting from the blade action over time. Still, there's something to be said for the simplicity of a hot water rinse, and a drop or two of TuffGlide.

I think you may have hit upon the problem. It's a bit difficult to do what you say because the flipper extension is right where the lock bar is when the knife is have open, but I DID adjust the pivot when I first got it (it didn't open for BEANS) so it's about as loose as it's going to get without the nut falling off. I can definitely feel resistance when moving the blade around in the 1/2 open position, so maybe a lock bar tweak is in order. I'll give it a shot. Just to add to this discussion, it's really only with the flipper that it has an issue opening. I find it easy to get a good purchase with the thumbstud and it opens like a rocket every time.
It sounds like weak detent is the issue. Because it takes more pressure to flip with the stud as opposed to the flipper being so close to the pivot. It effectively mimics a strong detent so bend that lockbar in for a stronger detent and enjoy your new flawless action.
