ZT 0300, what is the black finish on the Ti locking side?

Thanks Willieboy. Can anyone share with me the answer? My thought is it's DLC as well, or is it TOP secret since there is no FIRM answer. Thanks, John
 
Its black tungsten DLC. (Diamond Like Carbon) It a physical vapor deposition applied coating.
 
its kinda a tungsten "powder coat" just so you know ZT's DLC coating on the Ti scale and the blade is porous. if the blade is exposited to enough moisture or water instead of sealing out rust the DLC will let it into the tiny holes and you will get rust in that configuration on the blade.

i do like the coating thought, it is one of the more rugged blade coatings i have dealt with. only downside is the chalky feel it has
