I was looking at a new 0302 today and noticed that it felt
lighter than I remember. I wasn't able to weigh it but I
recently sold a 0301 and it felt considerably heavier. Does anyone
know if Kershaw made some changes to it? I couldn't see any obvious reason
why it would be lighter but it seemed noticable(or maybe I'm just stronger) :)

Another question; I noticed the tang on the blade has more of a concave shape like a Strider vs. the older model 0301 that seems to have a flat
surface on the tang. There seemed to be a little blade play on the one I was looking at too. Did Kershaw change this shape?

Also, the date of manufacture is no longer on the blade, just the serial
# and "speed safe". When did they change?

Thanks

There have been no changes with construction on any of the ZT's.

We stopped born on dates earlier in the year.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I am stronger. ;)
Great knife by the way. I wish you guys would make a
"super" 0300 series with a 4.5" to 5" blade though.

I showed my ZT0300 to a guy at work and he thought it was very light, considering how well built it looks. I placed it on a postage scale and showed him it was over half a pound, of steel, titanium and G-10!

Same width/thickness, but 4.5 or 5in blade?

Sign me up, we just found our next ZT! :D

broke my 0300 out at work last night to open a box of ratchet straps, guy next to me says "damn, that's a big knife". you probably had to be there, but i got a chuckle out of it. it's a lot of things, but i've never thought of it as light.

Both of our ZT302's look/feel exactly the same. Purchased about 15 months apart.

When I checked a packing crate to make sure the store didn't mess up my backorder, I opened my ZT302 and slit the seal. When I closed it I glanced up at the pickup-desk lady and her mouth had formed a perfect "O" in shock.

What happens every night when she opens up her kitchen drawer and sees all the even bigger knives... does she faint ?

The lady probably would faint if you whipped an 8" chef's knife out of your pocket at a store!

Kitchen drawer = perceived safe

Pants pocket = perceived threat
