Well, we were about 3 miles up a mountain here in sc And one of the girls we were with sprained her ankle. Thankfully I had para cord and my zt on me so I used it to cut down a tree and we made a stretcher. Worked amazing and couldn't have done it without my zt.

It is amazing what you can do with paracord and a good knife!

Also, nice to see another local guy on here. I was starting to think I was the only one. :p

ZT has really been getting forum members out of some tricky situaitons lately. I just read a thread a day or so ago about another forums member who pried open an elevator he was stuck in with a 550. In fact, it may have been the poster above me lol. In any case, I love my ZT's and I'm happy to see them working well for you guys!

Haha it was a smaller maple.... It was
In a state park but we figured it was
Worth it to get her down the mountain. It was prob 8 inches around.

8 inches, that still kept you busy for a while! People wonder why we carry knives, these are the stories to show them!

I think he actually meant 3 miles up the trail, not up on top of a trail 3 miles up. At least that's how I read it.

Nice! Always like hearing about positive outcomes due to the carrying of a knife:thumbup:

I was at a fundraiser walk a couple years ago and the wind went crazy, picked up a half dozen of those metal framed canopies that were sitting over some vendor tables, all tied together with zip ties. The mass of metal and canvas flew about 75 feet and crashed onto people sitting having a picnic lunch. Some folks were seriously hurt and needed medical attention but were trapped in the tangled mess. I ran over, pulled out my Kershaw and helped free some of the victims. One of the organizers said "Thank God you had a knife on you!" Situations like that one and yours really hit home with me. Always best to be prepared, good on you!

Actually didn't take too long! Not even ten min! I had a friend bending the top down, and I was just whacking it... It was 8 in diameter btw, so I Donno... Maybe 3.5-4" across. All I know was that it was too wide to Batton.

Amen! The thing is that I was
The only one with a knife and para cord on that hike.... My other prepper/prepared friend who usually hikes with us wasn't there. People
Make fun of us for carrying 30 lbs of
Extra gear.... Till they need it haha.

8" diameter is not that small a tree/branch. Not saying you couldn't work through it with a pocket knife, but that'd take a bit of effort. Did you maybe mean 8" circumference (~2.5" diameter)?

ZOMG, she had a life-threatening sprained ankle??? And you guys had to carry this girl out on a stretcher???

I applaud you for being prepared for the situation (), but really, aren't you over-embellishimng the story just a wee bit? Also, you carry 30 pounds of gear just for a few miles of day hiking? To each their own, but that sounds like going way overboard.
