Hello guys,

I'm kind of in the limbo here so i need your help:)
I never had a ZT before so i'm thinking about buying one.
The 0350 and the 0550 are the ones i'm willing to try but both have some things i don't like.

0350

Cons:
  • seems to be a bit heavy for EDC
  • AO mech (can it be removed?)
  • Black blade

0550

Cons:
  • bigger (i prefer smaller for EDC)
  • bulkier
  • more expensive :)

I really don't know wich one i'll choose so what do you think?
BTW, if anyone has a pic of both side by side i would appreciate the size compariso;)

Thanks for looking:)

I had an 0350 and sold it because it was too heavy to carry comfortably. I have the 0550 and it's perfect. Light but tough. Love the design more than the 0350 too.

The torsion bar can be removed, but the detent is a little on the weak side without it.

What? According to ZT's website the 0350 is lighter by .2 oz.

Anyways, yes the AO can be removed from the 0350, I did it to mine for a short time before deciding I liked it better as an AO (also, being a flipper design, the thumb studs weren't of much use as a manual opener). I think the 0350 carries real well for being a stout folder. It's fairly slim and 5 oz. isn't overly heavy in my opinion (note that I carry a 8 oz. knife daily so take it for what its worth).

Can't comment on the 550 too much other then to say, if you want a Ti framelock, then that's the way to go.

Hmmm, well the 0550 feels lighter.

Why go negative here (yes I know it's the General rule)? List out your pro's for each, perhaps it will clear up confusion.

To me, neither is too heavy or uncomfortable to carry. If you have big hands, the 0350's handle might just be a tad too small. I have medium sized hands and like 0550's handle better.

For the people saying the 350 is too heavy, are you sure you're not thinking of the 300? Because the 350 is definitely not heavier than the 550.

Also there are a couple variations of the 350 out there with a silver blade instead of black. Both are great knives though so good luck with your search.

I don't have a 350, but my buddy does. I prefer my 0551 over it by a pretty good margin. They are both great knives, but I think the 0550/0551 is worth the premium to get the frame lock.

Ive had both. The 0350 didnt fit my hands, so i sold it. It felt a bit too short for my large hands. Everything else about it, is excellent though. Great steel, materials and build. The G-10 is very grippy and can be hard on the pockets though. The AO function is solid, cant see why you would want to remove it except for legal reasons.

The 0550 is excellent too. Fast and smooth opener. Rock solid lock-up and even better materials than the 0350, ie. titanium and S35VN. Its abit blocky and the scales feels sharp onto the hand, when you are really leaning on it making heavy cuts. I still own the 0550 and its a keeper for sure.

You can not got wrong with either one. Just pick the one you like most and go for it!

I've got a 551 and 350. love the 350, but the 551 fits my hand better. I don't carry my 350 as an edc anymore, it's just carried with me when i'm doing work around the house. I say 551/550.
