ZT 0350 or ZT 0566 for my first Zero Tolerance blade?

Hi guys, I was just wanting to get some advice from some of you that may have handled both of these blades. I am saving up right now to get one of these two blades, and they are both in the same price range. I was just wanting to know if one had an advantage over the other, or maybe the elmax steel is better than the S30V. Anyways, I know it most likely will come down to whether or not I want Ken Onion design or Rick Hinderer design. Any help is very much appreciated! Thanks!

I'd go 0566. I much prefer Elmax to S30V. I have a 0561, and I find the ergo's better than the 0350TS I owned. I didn't particularly care for the flipper on the 0350, too thick and obtrusive for a knife with a 3.25" blade. Both can be de-assisted, though I've heard that on some of the newer runs of 0566 come without a detent ball. YMMV.

I've had both and I would say the 0566 100%. The 0350 is nice but just too bulky. The recurve can be tough to sharpen too. The 0566 is an awesome blade and the shape and size is very versatile. Good luck.

I have both, and I like the 566. Good EDC size. I like frame locks over liner most of the time. Elmax is great.

The 350 is a great knife but I would also choose the 566 over it. I much prefer the Elmax over S30v and while I do have several recurve blades I tend to not carry/prefer them as much.

I have both, and love them both. I will agree with the consensus and suggest the 566. It is great. So is the 350. However, the recurved blade, overall size, steel, and G10 make it the lesser of the two options for me. If you do get the 350, take a look at the CF version. I find the G10 on the 350 to be WAY too aggressive and much different than the scales on my 566 or 562.

They are both great knives. It really will come down to preference in blade shape and liner vs frame lock. I've owned both and really liked them, especially De-assisted.

If I got one of those two again it would probably be the 0350. Only because I haven't had one for longer.

In the end, get both. They really do rock.

I am seeing a big trend leaning toward the 0566, I do love the design on that knife, and I think it would be an excellent flipper de-assisted. Thanks for all the responses guys :) I also forgot to mention, I do have a manix 2 in the running aswell, so its looking like I am going to be deciding between a manix 2 or the 0566.

Do you have a preference on the size of the blade or knife handle? I found the 0566 small and I like the size of the 0350. Both are good blades.

I have a Manix 2 and love it. I carried it every day for months.

...until the 0566 bumped it out of pocket. ;)

I prefer the 0350 just because I have big hands and the 566 is a little small in my hands. That is just for me though. I have plenty of customers with big hands who love the 566. They are both great knives and either way you will not go wrong!

A few photos to help you in your decision making process:

I don't have an 0566...but I just figured I'd toss out the comment that Knifeworks still has some of their 0350s in M390 (and priced just $15 over the standard version).

Damn whitty, I had forgotten how much thicker the 0350 is!

My vote is for the 0566. Perfect amount of blade, and the ergos make it melt into your hand. And who doesn't love a good Hinderer design right now?

I have always been a fan of the 0350, has a slim profile and fires easily and smooth, of the two you mentioned, my vote is the 0350, many to choose from.

Pretty sure the CF model of the 0350 is the thickest one they did. I think if you compared the G10 version to the 0566 it would be much closer.

Thanks for those pictures :) That is a nice comparison there. As far as the handle goes, I am not looking for it to be super bulky (Although if it is, it is not a factor). If I can get a knife that feels as good in the hand, as my tenacious, or my full size griptilian. I should say, that the tenacious is pretty much the perfect length in handle for me, so is my grip. So if etiher one of these can meet the length, I am not too worried about the handle bulk. Thanks again guys for this, this is so helpful to me! Also, if it is longer than a grip/tenacious, that is just fine as well.
