ZT 0350 or ZT 0566 for my first Zero Tolerance blade?

I am seeing a big trend leaning toward the 0566, I do love the design on that knife, and I think it would be an excellent flipper de-assisted. Thanks for all the responses guys :) I also forgot to mention, I do have a manix 2 in the running aswell, so its looking like I am going to be deciding between a manix 2 or the 0566.

I LOVE the Manix 2. That being said, it is different from the 0566. Not worse, but different. I am not a huge fan of assisted knives, and that alone would make me lean towards the Manix. Just like ZT, the Manix has awesome fit and finish and is durable. My suggestion would be to hold both, see which one feels better. For me, the Manix is the winner, but you might feel differently. Both are great knives.

Surprisingly the G10 and the CF version are the same thickness. Here is a photo of the 2 laying flat. I also added one of the G10 350 and the 566! I can say the 350 CF is heavier feeling!

You are correct indeed, I really thought the CF was thicker, and I thought the 0566 was thicker than the 0350, but it is about 1/16 of an inch thinner.

I like the ZT0350 a lot.
It may looks like a straightforward design but actually it works fine.
It has been a favorite for a long time.... However I have to admit the I would go for the 0566...
Actually not because it better than the other, and even IMHO the 0350 is more comfortable for heavy use when necessary... But since I got my 0550 I think I have an "hinderer bug" with ZT ;)

I have a ZT0350 in m390 and at the moment I am thinking to trade it for a 0566bw....
But that is my personal bug ;)

I think either will be fine

I have been struggling with a similar decision until earlier today. As my title says, my money went towards a 0566 (shipped today). Even though I have not been able to personally handle either knife, I paid close attention to review videos and the way the knife looked in the hands of the reviewer (compared to my hands). My other consideration was weight and how many people stated the knife feels really good in the hand (ergonomics). Finally, blade length and overall length seemed closer to what I was looking for. I should have my 0566 (my first ZT) on Saturday and will share my initial impression after a day or so of having the knife in hand.

Yes Please do tell me what you think :) I too have never held these two knives. Plus if you have a tenacious, could you tell me how they compare, just as far as ergos, not quality lol

I TOTALLY get obsessing over the choice. I do that all the time. However, you should remember that they are both awesome knives, and if you are having this much difficulty deciding you will probably end up owning both in the long run!

I EDC both. Maybe a slight edge to the 566 for your first only that the 350 is a little bulkier, but still carries well. For the past 5 or 6 months my 0770cf has been getting carried more than the previous two.

There are so many good choices is hard to go wrong but you'd probably love the 566, and like the 350 there are so many cool variations!

Well see the thing is, I have to save up for a little bit, so I am just making sure I can get as much info as possible. I just want to make sure, because I wont spend this much for a while, this is just kind of a little treat for myself. I know a lot of you are probably laughing at me, because honestly 140 is just a little more steep than normal. I usually pay around 50 bucks for a nice blade. My most expensive one being my Mini Grip for 80. lol here I am rambling, but point being, I probably wont be getting both, not for a while anyways.

Both are great knives, but they're also pretty different in terms of handling and carrying. The 0350 has a larger handle and blade (both wider and thicker), and, at least for me, fits in hand a bit more comfortably. The 0566 is slimmer, carries much more comfortably and discretely, and still has a good, robust feel to it. Ergos on the 0566 are good, but they don't quite fit my hand quite as nicely as the 0350. If you have a shop near you that carries them, you might try handling them to see which you like better. Both are substantially different from your Mini-Grip.

The 0350 was also my first ZT, and it made a good enough impression that I've since acquired more than a dozen more. And I don't think that's a particularly unique phenomenon either. ;)

The nice thing is that you're well into the point where buying more sub $50 knives is likely to be unappealing. I've found that it's easiest for me to manage my budget when I'm not dropping $50 every week, instead socking away for bigger buys at far less frequency. I'm having fun taking the approach of "if I only buy two this year, what will they be?" Researching and surfing options has been fun.

You pretty much nailed it on the head. I am just getting to the point where I want more quality out of my blades, rather than quantity.

can't add alot that others haven't already mentioned. I have both in a couple different configurations and you can't make a wrong choice. If its for EDC I'd lean towards the 566 but narrowly and my 350s get carried nearly as much. Think you'll love whichever you decide. And the Manix is a great knife but completely a different feel. Good luck.

Well I don't have the 0350 but I do have the 0566 and really like it. So I can only vote for the 0566.

I hope my reply did not come off as snarky. It was not my intention. I understand your situation (having a limited budget), especially since I have been there more often than not. It just seems that once you get bit by the knife bug, justifying "one more" knife is an all to common occurrence. I do it a lot, as do many other posters on this forum.

Can you provide us with more information as to what you will do with the knife and what criteria you are using to make your decision? You added the Manix to your list, and it is a very different (but awesome) knife. What about the Manix is attractive to you? I don't have my Manix with me now, but will be back home and have access to it tomorrow. I can take some pics of the 566, 350cf and Manix together so you can compare. If you have any other specific question, let me know.

IMHO, all the knives on your list are great, and I am pretty sure that you will not regret whichever one you purchase.

Cheers!

That's a pretty wide range of knives. Just to muddy the waters, I'll throw in the suggestion of the 0770 as well. The aluminum-handled version runs around the same price as the 0566.

Here's a shot of the ones you had mentioned plus the 0770 next to a Mini-Grip, to give you a size comparison. I don't know if you were considering the Manix2 G10 or LW. The one pictured here is the LW. I think the G10 one is a bit thicker on account of it having full steel liners.

Well I will mainly be using the knife as an edc. I have plenty of knifes to do so, but I have really been itching for a more quality steel/knife. The manix on the other hand, is pretty much a gonna buy eventually knife. So the manix is just kinda floating there, with these two. So don't worry about the manix, I appreciate the offer though :D Plus, no I didn't take offense to your response :) In fact I appreciate all of you, for even replying at all. I have been watching a lot of videos over the last few days on both of the ZT's (Staying away from Nuntfacy's video, I think the weight is what he doesn't like) So I do got a pretty good idea, of what each knife can do. Plus also, it might sound silly, but this definitely will also be a fondling blade :P Mainly I am just looking for an overall higher quality blade, and I know both of these will do that job. After looking at a lot of things, I am leaning more to the 0350, I know that most people are saying the 0566, but I do have rather big hands, and a beefy knife does not bother me at all. Heck I carry my buck 110 a lot. I also like the feel of my Nirk Tighe, from crkt, it is a bit of a tank. So the only thing really concerning me on the 0350 is the handle length. I always use my tenacious as reference, because that handle length is perfect for my hand. So as long as the 0350 is good on that end, I am really leaning toward it, because I love the black g10 scales, and I also like the liner lock over the frame lock. Just my preference on the lock, for what I do, that this liner lock will do justice :) So anyways, if you think the handle will be as long or longer than the tenacious, I might have my mind made up. Thanks again for all of the help, you guys are awesome!

Flarp, you are the MAN! You did a similar comparison for me (thank you!) and I have seen you do a bunch of other comparisons for other members. Is there a knife that has been made in the last 10 years that you do not own?
