ZT 0450 CF vs Benchmade 940-1

I see that you have already made your decision and I agree with it.

I own a 940-2, which I like a lot but I'm not too impressed by their s30v. It chipped twice and I ended up having to reprofile it and take a considerable amount of steel off an already thin blade, upon the third chip I called it quits and send it in for a new blade. I had some cash lying around fortunately and got myself a 940-1 because I have extensive experience with S110V as well and I imagined it would serve me well. It took about 2 months for it to chip about 2cm away from the pivot. Sigh. I honestly don't even know what I should have done differently, I own a fairly large collection of knives ranging from all steels and shapes and none have given me the trouble my 940s have. I'm still in the process of getting it out but their s90v is no fun to reprofile at all and it doesn't help that I also got a 0450 about the same time as the 940-1 (bye bye money, but worth it) which serves me extremely well. Perfect fit and finish, it's obvious Mr sinkevich really put thought into small details and once I put an excellent edge on it it became my go to slim blade. I've put it through fairly hard use as well and it just holds up. By this point I'd already be touching up my 940s and to this day I've yet to come across any issue with the 0450.

In conclusion I think the 940-1 is a very good knife, but I don't see the need for the s90v really. I don't know if it's bm's heat treatment or just the noticeable difference between s30v and S35vn but in a slim mid size folder you really don't need much more then the latter. I'm going to try go easy on the 940-2, and think the steel fits the folder better than s90v - thus my conclusion is that I find the 0450 to take first place in use and maintenance, the 940-2 second if you don't push it past its capabilities (excellent balance and mine came perfectly centered and with great action) and the 940-1 as my last choice.

The latter really is a great knife love the cf, but once it needs work you're in for it. If I only had cash for one of these I'd be kinda bummed out about my 940-1 (perhaps I am judging by the length of this post! Ha), but I let myself be influenced by the 'best folder ever' talk, which it isn't (subjectively speaking) .

I couldn't even get past the look and feel of the 940 to even look into performance. At this point I'm willing to buy the 450 as well. This knife fits my hand so well and looks great.

Interesting discussion, I just obtained a new 0450. Very nice. However, the knife opening detention is ridiculously stiff. Getting better by repeatedly opening and closing it. Hopefully in a few hundred more cycles it will display something like the action I have seen demonstrated by you tubers. Also of note is the need for a hold position that is different than any other flipper I have, to avoid pressure on the lock while trying to deploy the blade. Would be nice if ZT would polish the action so it is delivered with a smooth release. Perhaps I just got a uniquely stiff model. However, if you name your brand Zero Tolerance.....

It’s is the common thing for ZT to have stiff detent from factory. I have 0452 that has extreme stiff action till Zi flipped my finger off

My 0609's detent was a little stronger than ideal when I got it, and now it's perfect.

I thought I had some good suggestions for the OP, but I see now he has made his decision already. I would have suggested that for the money (up to $270) he consider the 0609, SpydieChef, or Real Steel Megalodon 2017, all of which are surprisingly easier to carry for their respective sizes.
