Hey gang

Here's some early development sneak peaks of our upcoming ZT-0450 pocket clip.

We tried to stay cognizant of the design cues of Sinkevich's design, so we designed it to follow the native curves of the knife as much as possible.

These are WIP pics of the DVT (Design Verification Test) unit out of aluminum. The ultimate aim is to make the clip out of 6AL-4V Titanium, but we wanted to verify some aspects of the design with an easier to use material first.

We will be fine tuning this design to improve pocket ingress/egress. This development version didn't slide as easily as the stock clip, so we'll be refining things here and there.

As always honest feedback appreciated.

I like this much more than the stock clip. I may have to buy a 0450 just so I can customize it with your scales, pocket clips, and whatever else you come up with in the future!

Amazing design! Looks like something you'd see on a custom! Are these ever going to be available? If so I gotta get my hands on one!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Currently working on improving the ramp of the pocket clip. It slides onto the pocket, but not as smoothly as we'd like.

This is definitely a labor of love. Thank you for checking us out.

That's perfect... I was just about to suggest the tapered/ramp area where the clip contacts the pocket... maybe you can taper it on both sides so it goes easily in and easily out of the pocket? (the retention will keep it where it needs to be, I just mean so it doesn't snag coming out). Great work! I love the CF inlay.

IMO the stock one is too much clip for that knife. It looks like you tried to keep the length of the stock one however I'd like to see it shortened up a little bit.

Have to agree with you on the length. This is just my opinion and maybe other ZT-0450 owners can chime in, but when flipping, middle finger tends to sit on the pocket clip. It gives me some purchase and prevents me from squeezing the Lockbar and interfering with deployment.

I'll have to experiment with shorter designs, but the stock clips ramp leaves a nice place for your finger to sit. I tried to replicate this on the clip we designed, but things could definitely get shorter. Just not sure on the impact of deployment.

Can any other 0450 owners chime in on how they hold it when being flipped open?

Cheers. I do appreciate the feedback!

I usually have my middle finger further back for deployment. I have tried the knife with a 560 deep carry clip which is a little shorter and that worked good even though I'm not the biggest fan of deep carry. As of right now, I have an XM-18 clip on it which is almost the same length as the standard clip but it is wider and looks much better imo.

Woah thats beautiful! Is it too much to ask if you will be making a left hand clip as well?

I don't have my 450 yet - but on my 808 I replaced the stock pocket clip with a 560 deep carry clip but actually went back to the stock one because I like how the two fastening bolts give me traction when pulling the knife out of my pocket. With the 560 clip it was too hard to grip the knife and pull it out.

This new clip looks great. Do the holes have hard edges? do they provide some traction when pulling the knife out of your pocket. Call me crazy - but some light jimping in the top would work well but the looks probably wouldn't be for everyone.

Just my $0.02 worth.

now somebody is keeping busy ;) i second the whole tapering thing and would like to add that the final unit might have the second screw sit flush with the inside of the clip if possible... erm... does that make sense?

I'll keep these factors in mind. The plan is to have one clip serve dual purposes (deep/standard) by altering the depth of the screws. I will most likely include 2 sets of the 2-56. Ones with small heads that will recess Into the holes for deep carry and ones that have larger heads and sit flush(er) with the top for standard carry. New design that's been modeled but not produced yet includes a more tapered tip for easier ingress.

The clip looks great! I like the stock length. I prefer deep carry, but would buy this one anyway.

Trying to make 1 clip serve both roles by changing the depth of the screws. Stay tuned.

Yes. The plan is to have the screws either sit flush with the bottom and out of the way for deep carry, or sit higher in the pocket for std carry.

Thanks for all the feedback ladies and gents!

Awesome! Thank you for thinking if us lefties. Since all my knives have the clip on the show side might as well have a clip worth showing!
