ZT 0450 or Spyderco Smock

The trick is to have patience, they’ll show up again. Now you know not to hesitate when you see one. I got one and wasn’t really looking for it. It’s funny how things work, if you’re looking hard, they’re nowhere to be found. Especially if it’s driving you crazy that you just have to have one.
It’s like the micarta Shaman’s, they’re nowhere to be found.
 
If you like the look of the smock go for it
It is a very special design and it is clearly not for me
i would go for the 0450, or actually the 0470 since it is the one I got for myself
The blade is kind of thick behind the edge on the 04** so I felt like the size of the 0470 should be more appropriate
I am happy with this choice and in fact the 0470 carry very well in the pocket with the factory clip

I’m going for a 0450 this week but next week I think I’ll go ahead and jump on the 0470 as well. I missed out on the smock this time. Already sold out on bhq :/. Does anyone have any other suggestions for high quality edc knives in the 150-300 range?

Apples and oranges to me but, if it's just a choice between the 0450 and Smock, I would have chosen the Smock because I think the 0450 is too small (quickly sold the only one I ever owned). The Smock isn't much larger but it is a much more interesting knife IMO.

FWIW, I think that the 0452 is much better than the 0450 but I like larger knives and have 3 of them; a standard CF, a G10 M390 Rose/Gold Ti Sprint and an all Ti Blue. Still looking for CF M390 Blue Ti Sprint for a reasonable price.

I didn't like plain Ti knives until I bought a Real Steel Megalodon which I've been carrying for about a month, which is a long time for me, but I might even consider buying a all plain Ti version of the 0452 if I can also find one for a reasonable price.

I'd go neither. Get an 0470. I didn't like the feel of the 450 when I checked one out, and the smock just looks awkward and uncomfortable, so I have no desire for one. But the 470...i like it so much I bought a second one!
 
The 450 is thick BTE and ZT runs their steel soft. I have two in ZDP since it's the only knife you can get in that steel that isn't a back lock or closer to $1k than I'm willing to pay. Hitachi also has some sort of requirement that they heat treat the steel so I figured they were probably run harder than your average ZT would be.

The Smock is terribly ugly and only using S30v.

Neither one is setup for high performance so it really comes down to which one you want more.

The 450 occupies a unique place in my carry. It’s gentlemanly as hell when closed, and unexpectedly aggressive when opened. it efficiently and elegantly stores a kind of intimidating little blade.
