I have $160 to spend on a new edc blade. I use my edc blades for opening boxes, opening packages, cutting plastic straps, and sometimes food prep. Side by side pictures would be great.

1. I live in a coastal invironment and am curious as to which of these are more rust resistant?

2. Which of these two would be the better buy and why?

Honestly you would be happy with either. However I'm a big ZT fan. The axis action is fun for a while, but the ZT actions are amazing. So, if you want more to grip onto, the Grip. If you want a much slimmer, easy carry (almost Gentleman's Knife), then the ZT. Sorry, don't have pics.

I've really enjoyed my ZT. However, I'm probably going to get myself a mini grip real soon. After carrying a friend's griptillian for a week, I felt that they are different knives. The ZT is smooth and slim, while the griptillian felt like a stonger, beefier knife.

They aren't even comparable knives IMO, everything about them is very different, so it's strictly a matter of personal preference at this point. Opening boxes and cutting straps I'd go with the 556-1, food prep I'd go with the 0450, anything where you need a slicing through action the 0450 will do better since the main grind is drawn out more than the 556-1. Both knives are a little slick feeling, benchmade didn't really texture the G10 on the 556-1, and both knives offer pretty dang good corrosion resistance although 20cv should do a tiny bit better.

0450 vs 556-1

Flipper/framelock - Axis
Long and thin vs shorter and somewhat stout
Titanium vs G10
s35v vs 20cv
non-deep carry vs deep carry (though ZT will provide a deep carry if you call them)

I went with the ZT.

Good choice, they are both solid knives but for the money there is no comparison, the ZT is far better value given materials and especially fit and finish.

Been looking at one of these ZT0450's as well can't decide on the Ti or CF can some one talk me into or out of Ti version vs CF?

Cf for sure it's lighter and looks cooler... although I'm almost positive I will end up with both eventually.
