Wanting to buy a new knife for Christmas. Would like to try a ZT for once and have been eyeing these 3. Like the 0452 because of the looks the action, very beautiful knife. Also like the 0804 because of the looks and the flipper tab as well as the ergo's. Don't like the all blacked out but I can deal with it. 0804 was also discontinued recently and need to decide if I like it. 0460, I like the brown cf and the blade shape but not sure how it compares to the 0450. Handle fits my hands well. Flipper tab is pointy and I like the 0450's better, don't like the thickness behind the edge though. Held all 4 of these knives and can't decide. Your thought? Thanks.

0450 and 52 have some of the nicest flipping action I've felt. Very nice knives.

You cannot go wrong with a 450 or a 452.
I have both and can’t fault either. The 452 gets more pocket time......that damn knife is just gorgeous! Flips amazingly also!!
Check out USAMADEBLADE! They’re one of the great dealers here and they have anodized models available for no extra charge!
I bought 3 of them 2 years ago and all of them look great till this day!
Good luck!

I have three 0450's and the 0452ti, both have amazing flipping action with the edge probably going to the 0450, but you cant go wrong with either. The 0452ti is a sprint run and is still available from some dealers if you like the plain titanium look, love mine.

I like them all... I used to own about 20 ZT knives and the 3 you mentioned are of the 4 remaining. The 452 is just bada$$. The 450 is the little brother and really goes great in the pocket. Love the Sinkevich designs. The 804 has great action and there’s just something about it over the others that I sold that makes me keep it...can’t put my finger on it.

I know it's a hard question but of those three which one would you choose? Also any thoughts on the 460? Are you considering buying it at all? Has a thinner edge the 450 and better slicer. Handle is cool in my mind. Not sure about you though.

The 450/460 handles are too small for me, other than very casual use. That’s why I gravitate to the 450/804.

I have both a 0450 and an 0460. They’re both great. I think I favor the 0450 slightly, as a better all around knife. It’s only weakness is it’s behind edge thickness. The 0460 is my preferred dress-up knife. I did a review here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/zt-0460-updated.1489102/

I don’t own a 0452. I’ve had one in hand at retailers many times. I love it, but I always talk myself out of it because, “do I really need a 4+ inch flipper?” It’s only a matter of time befor I give in!

The 0804 is one also one I’ve found hard to resist. But like you, I don’t care for coated blades.

For the reasons above, I vote 0450. It’s one of the few knives I would replace tomorrow if I lost it tonight.

Of your choices I'd go with the 0452 or the 0804.
I own them all and the 0452CF is the more carried but if you've got a larger hand as I do the have 0804CF fits a little better but, there's a lot of advertising on this one, so it sort of sits.
Also, it flips well but has bitten me once or twice due to the odd positioning of the detent when closing.
Seems it wants to fall on my thumb knuckle when I'm not paying close enough attention.

I have the 0452 and think it is a great. The only problem was that ZT sets the detents very stiff. It would not break in so I had to send it to BM to loosen it up and now it is OK. I also have the 0562 CF M390 and the action on that knife is much better than the 0452. I know that many collectors think that the0452 is the end all be all, but I strongly believe otherwise. I have many knives in my collection that have much better action than the 0452. Some of them cost between $30-50 and are great knives with middle of the road steels. They perform extremely well considering considering the price.

Hi, 1st time posting here
Like the OP I’m trying to chose my first ZT. I’m curious what knives have much better actions than the 0452 between $30-$50?

Starting on the low end and moving up to high. Kizer Tangram Santa Fee $30, Real steel H6 framelock & linerlock $50-60. most of my PM2's $100 - 300, GB2 $150, Steel Will Mini Gekko & Apostate both about $150 and lastly my ZT 0562 M390 .
There are more but I am too lazy to look right know. The action on these knives is after they have been oiled and pivot adjustment which I do to all my knives when I get them. I hope this gives you an idea that the 0452 is not the holy grail of flipper smoothness. If I can be of more help let me know and I will give you my e-mail address.

O452, is a hard fast flipper with a stiff detent that breaks suddenly causing the blade to fling out. I think it suits the knife , but it's not exactly smooth.

My 0452cf fires harder than most other ZTs, on par with my 0909 (which is gone now). I will not say which one has better action because it all depends on the personal preference. Like with my 0562cf, it does not flips as strong and fast as 0452cf, but you get more feeling of its smoothness.

I’m sure there are some subtle differences in the actions on a particular model. My 452CF had a tight detent out of the box. I put a glove on and flipped the snot out of it! Now it is one of my best flippers!
450 was a perfect flipper out of the box. 562CF has a light detent, but I like it as I can open with the studs easily.
My 3 are staying with me.....all 3 are excellent knives.

Don't like the look of the 0562. Bet it's a great knife but I'm over the hinderer style. So 0804 or 0452?

The last knife I purchased was a 0452cf in May of 2015. I bought knives frequently before, but after I got it, I've had no desire to buy anything else. It's the perfect knife for me. I've carried it daily for 2.5 years now and I can't imagine anything replacing it. It's not my first ZT knife, but it may be my last because i like it so much.

I think the 804 is slightly more practical for EDC tasks. The 452 gets a little cumbersome If you go 804, be careful of the pocket clip. The first one I had was very stiff and required 2 hands to pocket. If you go 452, the clip is “fine” and there are other options for clips, including deep carry, which I prefer.

Bottom line, you can’t go wrong either way. Go for what your gut tells you to do.
