Do you know for sure that size 4 is the size for the pivot? or are you just talking to be talking? I need a wrench for the pivot screw. It is smaller than the others on the 5551. apologies if you were being straight with me. You just came off as being flip.

If you would have bothered to look/read through this entire thread, you would have found the info for the torx sizes in post #61;

T8 for the Pivot and T10 for the handle screws. I've always wondered why ZT didn't make the pivot screw a T10 also.

The search function can help avoid situations such as these.

I don't know what size the pivot screw is and I didn't say it is a size 4. I recommended you buy a set size 4 through 10, that way you can adjust your pivot screw, remove scales and clips on most knives.

My hardware store statement was my way of saying they are pretty easy to come by.

Less than a month ago I wanted to change the scales on one of my knives. The next day I had in hand a set of torx wrenches, spent $8. Google was my buddy.

houtex, just thought I'd try your idea out...and looks like the hardware (screws, threaded shaft and standoffs- anodized bronze in my case) for the XM-18 does fit the 0551. Have to use all Hinderer parts per fastner as the 0551 has threaded standoffs- can't just swap out the standoffs.

Hey, question;

where do you get the hardware? I know of a site that sells henderer like hardware and standoffs, wonder if these would work?

I would like to get Hinderer hardware and standoffs to begin with if possible.

I would love to get a translucent and/or blue scale for my 551, but I can't seem to find one. Does anybody know if another batch of these scales might be coming out soon?
