ZT 0550... Is It Worth It?

I've Also Noticed That Heavy Folders.. Aren't Really As Odd And Uncomfortable As People Think. I Think They're Quite Satisfying.

Oh Damn, You Had To Post A Pic! Lol.
But I Think I'll Go With A Lesser-Priced Tank, And Keep The Para2. That Way I'm Continually Happy With My Para And Satisfied With A Tank.

So .. I'll Ask Again...
Is The Tanto Horribly Noticeable On The CSAR-T? Or Is It Really "Modified" And Blends In Well With The Rest Of The Blade?
This Is Going To Be The Breaker Between The CSAR-T And The ZT 0350.

Hang on to your knives and just keep saving for an 0550.
If you sell the Ritter & PM2, you're just going to end up missing them down the road and will have to re-buy them.

The 0550 is a fantastic knife. I don't think it's worth the trade for those though.

Yeah I Mean That Would Be At Least Another $230 Out For Getting Those Two Back When With The Money For The 2 Of Them + Something Small I Got A ZT 0550 And Paracord Or Something.

I wouldn't trade for an 0550... or buy one. Of course, I already have two 0551s - which I love. My only other ZT is a 0301 - my first ZT - and a keeper. The ZT's were each less than $200 - it pays to shop. If it's a 'moose' of a knife - with a 'polite' assisted open function - that you want, get a 0300/0301. My 0551s are nice - great EDC knives - decidedly less 'moose-like' than the 0301. They get a lot more carry time here than the 0301. Both are beautifully made. Here is my 0301 and a few of my other favorite Ti folders:

Top down above, they are: BM 630 Skirmish; ZT-0301; Kershaw JYDII Ti/SG2; CRK StarTac Umnumzaan; Buck 172 Mayo TNT. The Skirmish is a long time favorite of mine.

Stainz

PS The ZT-0551/0550 are super bargains in quality made EDC knives. Just wanted to make that fact well known. Shop this forum's K-guy!

It's sort of a hydrid of a dop point and a tanto, there's no sharp angles like a tanto. The blade is also very thick at the spine.

You're not going to be able to tell if it's worth it until you actually buy one and hold or use it. It's just one of those subjective things that no one else can really tell you. Yes, it's a very nice knife, but no one will be able to tell you if it's something you would like. If you don't they're very easy to sell.

PS, why do you capitalize the first letter of each word? It hurts my eyes!!

Save up for the 0560/0561. While it is a bit more expensive, the price difference isn't enormous and you're getting a lot more knife for what you're paying.

Both are good knives, but the 056X appeals to me more.

Good thread and posts. I have both the para 2 and Ritter grip as well and love them both. The para 2 pushes a lot of other folders off to the exchnage!

That said, I'm totally fixated on the ZT too...it's just a great looking blade I keep looking at. $200 is a lot for a folder for me too, but I think it's a tank I could carry and is probably the nicest looking production folder I know of.

Definitely pick up a 0550 or a 0551 on the secondary market. My 0551 is my EDC, but I do also carry my 0301 often. Both are great knives, but I agree with Stainz, the 0551 carries a little easier, not that the 0301 is that noticeable in a pair of jeans.

I recommend the Buck Csar... for $80 it can't be beat. I like it better then the Strider SNG I had. And there is NO WAY in hell you are going to snap that blade. The blade is thick all the way to the tip. Now it is not going to be the best slicer out there, but I have other knives for that. I got the Csar to be my Tank knife, and it handles that very well! The weight doesn't bother me at all in the pocket. And in the hand the weight feels great! Don't forget that the ATS-34 blade on the Csar is heat treated by none other then Bos himself. Try finding this in other $80 knives with this quality blade.

I just picked one up last week. The Fit and Finish is pretty good imo and to be honest its a beefy knife. I'm 6"1 and I find it pretty big and its reallyy smooth and the frame lock is very easy to close. I think it is indeed worth it! Just beware of its thickness, bulky blade but overall definitely worth it and i carry this everywhere now. It's just amazing and because I love this so much I've been wanting to grab a 560 cause of the flipper and the 3D Machined G-10 and titanium. First ZT knife and fell in love with it. Get one :)

I think it's worth it. I own one and have a bunch of handmades I've purchased over the past few months and a grail knife in a Ferrk fully pimped EKI. The 550 is as good or maybe even better than most I own. Certainly on a par easily. Matter of fact when I first received the 550 I said to myself how much better can the real deal be for the amount paid and what you get. I also am of the opinion no knife no matter who made it etc etc is worth more than my Rock River AR. But that's just me. keepem sharp

PS about the only concern I have for the 550 is the frame lock appears to be cut a wee bit to thin but for the use I've given the knife it just might be an ounfounded opinion on my part

If you like carrying a folder that rides like a brick in your pocket get a 0550.
I had #380 (if I rememebr right) and sold it without regret. It was well made but the clip sucked for the price of the knife and it was really hard to open (which could be fixed if one wanted).
Just not my taste.
I know a lot love this knife but I think it gets too much merit. For the feel of the knife I would rather have a fixed blade at that point.
I have been EDCing a full sized Ritter Griptilian for years now with no issues. Keep your mini Ritter and your Para2.

Mine Is The Full Sized Ritter As Well.
I Do Believe I'll Keep Them.
Or At Least Keep My Para2.
I Love The Ritter, But It's Sadly Not Going To Kick The BM 550HG Out Of My Pocket.
I Just Love The 550HG That Much.
This Being Said, I Have Thought Of Switching The Scales Lol.
But If The Money Comes Around I May Just See If I Can Get Blue G-10 Scales For My 550HG.
But The Ritter Would Have To Go For Something As Equally Awesome.
And The Para2 I've Decided Would Probably Only Go For A Spyderco Chokwe Or Something.
But I Don't See It Going Anywhere For A Very Long Time.
