ZT 0550 New Style with Black blade

Got mine Today! #65 Thanks Dave your the best! ....and Yep already put a Scale on it!

I love that sculpted cf scale with the black blade. They compliment each other well.
 
Solidorange and chester beat me to it but mine arrived today too. :) Hadn't gotten a 0550 so when Dave was having a sale on "originals" I decided to take him up on it. Of course then he shows us the BLK and well........you know. :D First I have even held one of these and they are awesome in the hand! Only the second ZT model I've bought (have "some" 0350s ;)) and I wasn't sure how I'd like the "unassisted" variety. The standard model opens almost as fast as my 0350s with a little wrist help. The black on the other hand is a little persnickety. One time it'll open right up and then next time it refuses to. This is alright though as being a limited edition it's in the box on the shelf and the original gets put into EDC rotation. :) Great knives though! Enough with the words, time for the porn. lol

Most of my coated knives open a little harder at 1st....probably since the coating isn't as smooth as the stonewashed blade so theres more friction...but over time they open like butter..
 
Just got mine. Mine opens nice and easy. The 551 and old style 550 I have open a bit easier but they've been broken in pretty well. I'd actually say they maybe open a little too easy, even with the pivot tightened up pretty good. The problem being, they also close quite easily and I several months ago was playing with the 551 while packing up for a trip and had the tip of my thumb sticking out a bit and cracked the 551 closed taking the tip of my thumb off! That Elmax sharpens up surgical sharp!

I need to pick up a smaller torx bit for the pivot screw, but I think these green/black monkey frags will look great on it.

Got mine a day or two ago, I'm in love. So much better looking, IMO, than the one I got to handle in the passaround.

Anyone by chance have a blue frag scale handy they can throw on and take some pics for me? Can't decide between blue and orange.
 
Best I could do on short notice. Already thinking about a second one to put an orange or even toxic green scale on!

I do love this knife unfortunately I cannot afford to get every one I fall in love with, I still have my old style 0550 and love it, always carry it off work but it is the one knife I refuse to use on the farm (not that it can't handle it but if I am going to be nicking up blades and having to learn to reprofile SLOWLY on the sharpmaker that is what my 0350 is for). I might also be guilty of carrying my 0301 and a skyline at work as well.
