I use mine daily for small cutting: Boxes, tape, the occasional cord here and there. I have had zero problems with the S35V, I think its a great steel. I have yet to resharpen and I can still cleanly cut receipt paper.
I use my hard all the time. The edge holds like a dream. Ive used it to cut vines from the linkages beneath a john deere, and to open over 100 backs of rock salt for our plows and it still wanted more. I took this pic after being under the tractor slicing up thick vines, I know the edge got whacked a few times at least as the blade broke through the vines and would hit something metal pretty hard. I was really impressed i needed to take a picture.
For a test I used mine to cut the twigs off of and sharpen several sticks before taking it inside and doing about 30 cardboard cuts with it. Still shaving sharp after that.
I have been looking into S35VN steel because I like the looks of the 550. Does anyone know what hardness its being run at? I am a total newb when it comes to the high dollar knives and steels. So I am trying to learn all I can about the ZT knives and their steels before I buy one.
