Any quick visual check to see if its an older or a newer model?
If so what was changed between the two?
Thanks for any advice.

Whoops, just realized you were talking about the 0560/1. The only difference between them is the 0560 has a black scale and the 0561 has a brown scale.

Not my question, but thanks for the response.

Are there two different generations of the 0560 out there, if so, how can I tell the difference from old and new.

There aren't two Gens out there for the 0560.
There's two Gens out there for the 0550.

As far as I know there's only 1 generation of the 560/61. I have 1 of the earlier 561's, serial # 0018.

Maybe someone that's owned or handled several different 560/61 can comment.

I believe you are thinking of the 550.

Two deltas that I know of are the lock bar cutout depth/size and the carry clip. There are probably more but those two help you spot a gen1 vs gen2. Gen2 has a pretty decent deep carry clip.

There was a change on the finish of the Ti one being shiner than the other and it seem like the cut out on the lock bar was moved slightly (I think further down). Don't know what serial # these changes took place.

Yup.

Earlier models had the shinier finish and the thicker gap between the lockbar and frame.

I don't think it is an official generation change like on the 550 though.

It's not a gen change. It's just a change they made, later in production.

One thing I have noticed is with the scales. I will post a picture when I can tomorrow, but I received a factory black 0560 scale in a trade and it is textured just a little differently then my other 0560 and 0561. The edges especially are slightly different. It feels different when rubbing your fingers over it, almost more grippy Like I said, I can post pics of a close-up tomorrow but it is something I noticed. I kinda like it though! On a side note, i Absolutely love these knives. Great job ZT

Perhaps you would prefer a black washed model, I wouldn't expect them to be too far from hitting the market

I didn't know about that model, thanks! (after taking a quick peak I think I prefer the 0560 over the 0560BW...just need to find a dull one)

Before I post pictures, Just wanted to clarify that this is not complaining or whining of any sort. Just showing the difference in the two 0560 black factory scales I have. Just an observation.

You can kinda tell the difference in the machining process on this next bottom one, which is the one I received in the trade. I personally like it, it provides a little extra grip.

The scale seems like it was more finely cut.

Yeah I can see that. I've only seen a picture of one other scale that looked like that, and it was a 0561. MIght have been just a different cutting technique used in the first models or something.

There also seem to have been a change in grinding the surface of the blade that touches the lockingbar. In the first models it was straight, but was changed to being radiused afterwards. Strider folders seem to have this change as well, though I don't remember exactly in which way they changed it (straight->radiused or vice versa).
