ZT 0560 got wet

This is just conjecture... But I submit to you this personal opinion..

Any reasonably minded knife owner, should expect a knife at this price point to scoff and laugh at a little water. :)

I thought the 0560 was made out of steel and titanium, I had no idea it could be damaged by a little water.

Yeah I kind of panicked, it's my favorite knife by far and I've never really gotten any of my knives wet before. Thanks.

I...I don't understand. You mean you've owned knives other than this one, and none of them had gotten wet until now? You mean you've never rinsed any of them off, never perspired onto or around them, and never used them with wet hands or in the rain?

No offence intended, but I have never before in my life heard of anyone babying their knives to that extent.

I think OP should give his knives away to someone that will actually use them for their intended purpose. They aren't museum pieces, man!

Maybe he lives on Mars or something, where there is no liquid water?

I'd say you over reacted a touch. I get knives wet all the time, set them down forget about them it rains on them. Not the expensive ones of course but the sub 50 dollar workhorse knives, my first though is "eeh the sun will dry it" The expensive ones I will go out and bring inside stick it in my pocket so I don't lose it again haha. It is a tool that is meant to be used. I was actually kind of happy when my para 2's liners spotted once. It's character, just don't let it get out of hand or it will look like an old pickup in no time. I can't believe you've never gotten any of your knives wet before though, that is very surprising to me.

Mmmmmmmm....ricey ZT. That sounds delicious.

Make sure the house knows what you are up to. It might get tossed out. I'm just saying. Disassembly and wipe down would be faster, easier, look less kooky, ect.

Flitz will remove any surface rust. Yeah you overreacted but no harm done. Now you know not to worry!

Way way overreacted... I am not even sure if this can be called overreaction...

Anyways.. hope that ZT sees some use eventually.

Yes knives get wet, but there is no reason to be rude to the guy like some are being. He may be very new to knives.

Ok people chill out. He may have overreacted, even if he did he doesn't need to be told 300 times. I think he got the message the first time. And like Ken said, he could be new to knives, and doesn't know just how resistant these steels are. If he feels that it's necessary to do all that to prevent rust, then more power to him, no need to rudely criticize, like some are doing.

If i get a folder (specialy autos and assisted that im not sure i can put back in one pice) wet, i simply first use a towel and then i steal my GFs hairdryer :P not had anything rust on me yet.

Left knife on desk, panicked when it got wet.... If that isnt a glorified paperweight then I dont know what is...

I use hot water, liquid soap and a toothbrush all the time on knives, then wipe off, maybe use a hair dryer or set them on a heat/air conditioner register for a few hours, then oil and go.

I accidentally sent a Gec F&F tool through the wash. the funny thing is that when I was emptying the washer, and throwing stuff into the dryer, there was nothing rusted on the knife. It actually looked as good as new and the pull was even smoother than when new.

That is what I do, Dawn dishsoap is the best I've found so far.

I don't think anyone was being rude in this thread. I think that some were expressing their shock at the extent of the OP's concern, and there was a little good-natured ribbing thrown in. I'd wager the OP is a big boy, I'll bet he can take it.

As for the OP being new to knives, he's been a member here since 2006 and has over 600 posts. With all the talk and information on this forum concerning the durability of knives under various conditions, it kinda surprises me too that anyone who has been here that long would be worried about a little water.

Personally, I'd be more worried about a grain of rice getting stuck somewhere in the knife. :D

I regularly wash my knives off in the sink and leave them out to air dry. I've never had any of them rust on me. Unless your knife is made of carboard, I don't think a little water is going to hurt it.

Now salt water is a completely different story.

While Titanium can't rust, it can corrode as can all non-ferrous metals of which titanium is one. Corrosion is difficult to induce mainly you need boiling salt water, chlorine in certain concentrations or certain types of acid but it can happen. The things that can make titanium corrode are chemicals and scenarios whereby human beings could not survive anyway so no worries. If something happens that would make your titanium corrode, if the knife was in your possession you would be dead anyway.
