i know the 030x series has been the number one model for zt, but is the 560 taking over? all the posts i see make it seem to me its become more popular. i just bought my 2nd 0300 (and a 0301 blem from dave) and the 030x series is all id ever want in a folder. am i crazy or is the 056x becoming the new 030x?

I have both. Keep the 301 by the bed and usually carry the 560 when not at work.

The fact that the 560 has a straighter edge (no recurve) makes it easier to sharpen. The elmax is nice very material too. But I do like the 301 and I think that there will those that prefer one or the other. For me it depends on how I am feeling about it at the time.

I have a couple 350ts and a 560 & 561. I as soon as I touched the 561 the 350s have been in the box ever since.

See, i thought a "flagship" was a knife or product that was to showcase all the advancments that the company had to offer in one product no matter how limited it may be. IMHO this would make the 0777 more of a flagship. Kinda like the 0777 is the lexus LS while the 0560 is the ES. Or would it be the 0777 is the LFA and the 560 is the LS?

Not a ZT guy (yet, at least), but when I think of the line the 0560 is definitely the model that comes to mind.

I've though the 777/888 to be the Halo models and the 560 as flagship. I only have a 560, haven't had the oppty to buy a 3xx, but seems like there's more interest around the 5xx series at the moment. Hinderers are all the rage and it's about as close as the average person will get.

May be 0560-0561 now with 0550 in second place but 0566 being a smaller version of of the 560/561 it may push the big daddy to second place.

I was under the impression that a flagship model was normally a regular production that's the staple of the brand. The one you would say represents the brand most.

I would venture to say that it won't. I'm thinking if you look at the intended market and place in the lineup, it falls in a similar spot to the 0350. The 0350 never really replaced the 030x series but rather supplemented it. But maybe you're right.

Other than advantages of smaller size and similarities to the 0560/0561 line, another strong factor going for the upcoming 0566 is price. It'll sell for about $144 compared to $260 for the 0560/0561.

The 0560 is a much better knife for me than my 301's. It is lighter, simpler, better blade shape (for me) and carries much easier. I love my 0560.

You may be right on the price issue. However, AO is very polarizing and that will prevent some from buying it. Not having a Titanium lock is another polarizing issue. I am not saying that it won't be popular but I think it will probably compete more with the 0350 more than the 0550/0560/0561.

If you use the metaphoric definition of flagship, then I would have to say the ZT0777 is the flagship of the ZT lineup.

1: the ship that carries the commander of a fleet or subdivision of a fleet and flies the commander's flag
2: the finest, largest, or most important one of a series, network, or chain <the company's flagship store>

The CBCF is the flagship of the Hinderer collaboration line.

Arguably, the ZT0560 is the epitome of the ZT line.
