ZT 0560 or Strider?

Very nice! What steel did you get?...though it seems with their HT that it probably doesn't matter that much.
Use it in good health.

Thanks! CPM154 which I think they're going to be using for a while.

Go with ZT. At least they're a reputable company. As others have mentioned, I wouldn't support anyone who has lied about their service in the military. It's a disgrace to anyone that has served.

Great Choice on the SNG. i do like the Les George VECP better just a thought for your next knife purchase.

Has Strider ever done you wrong? I'd like to know what strider knives has done to you to cause you to say they aren't reputable.

Gerber paraframe 2 at Walmart and/or Izula fixed blade in pocket. Why the F would you buy a knife made by a convicted felon if you're going to be a cop.

Edited to add:

KershawGuy is overstocked on ZTs right now. You can get two knives from him and pay significantly less than what you'd pay for one Strider.

Eh, they're both good hard use folders. Hard to compare. In general I think I like the 560 more, but the concealed carry SMF with 3/4 ground blade is kind of my perfect Strider and I do prefer those. When I had both at the same time, I preferred my 560 to my regular SNG, and sold the Strider because the ZT is quite a bit cheaper for something I felt was a bit nicer in a lot of ways. The new lock up Striders do have pretty decent fit and finish now, but as far as being as good as a Les George VECP or Hinderer XM-18, not even close IMHO. If I was about to become a LEO, I'd buy a Hinderer direct for less than the Strider will cost and have the better knife of them all.

Thanks man, here it is. This one fits my hand perfectly which is a relief because I was questioning if I should get an SMF.

Very nice, it will last you for a very long time, likely for the rest of your life. :)

Money is the biggest deciding factor here.

A production SnG can range from $400-500 where as you can find 0560s now for $230.

If money is no object, then definitely Strider. I bought my first Strider recently and I love it! I also own a 0560 that I'm going to try to sell in order to buy a smaller knife for myself. The 0560 is good, but I found it to be a little too big for my EDC purposes.

Thank you, it feels like a freakin tank. I wasn't going to get one until I found a brown one stonewashed in CPM154. lo and behold bladehq came through.

I'd go with anything other than Strider. I'm sure they make a great blade and I believe that Mick Strider/Mickey Ray Burger or whatever his name is, is not directly involved in the company anymore. But that doesn't change the fact that one of the company founders used his military cred to pump up the brandand it appears his military record is questionable, at best. I doubt that all the accusations about him are true but the fact that he stakes his company on his record and then can't clear the record says to me that some of it is true and not worthy of my support.

And no, Strider has never done anything personally to me. But as prior service, just a lowly MP, I find the history of the company's founder to be quite off putting.

My 560 has been great and is my off duty carry. I carry a 0551 on duty and have had no issues with it all cutting zip cuffs, scrapping expired stickers, cutting evidence boxes down and removing the occasional screw to seize a tag. Good luck with your decision.

I have an SnG and I have handled the 560. The 560 feels a little cheap to me and they have had problems. My SnG (have had 2) is rock solid and a great edc

I really like/want a SMF (in something other than S30V/S35VN/CPM154) and have handled several, but I think I'd go with the 560 in this case, you get a flipper (which I prefer), a ball bearing pivot system, titanium liner (preference here too) Elmax over the boring old S30V, more cutting edge in less blade length (one of the off putting parts of the SMF for me, Big Choil!) plus just about everything else the SMF has.
