ZT 0561 Thumb Stud Promblem, and whats the the point of buying a XM-18 now?

I agree to 0200 is a great value, but ive seen different results especially with my zt0551 and 0560 other then my sj 75 they exceeded every sng, smf ive seen in fit and finish and the old style lock bar striders used I am not a fan of at all

When I first got my ZT 560 it was quite stiff, and I couldn't open it at all with the thumbstudes, I've had it for a week now and its gotten a lot smoother, I can now open it with the thumbstudes very easily and it flies out (I was also pressing on the lock bar when trying to deploy it before too, which held the knife closed) I'm very happy with it, and may buy another when the striped ones come out.

To put anyone's mind at ease who has chosen a Hinderer over a ZT, I will try to put it like an art dealer told me once when I was undecided
about buying a really expensive, for me, oil painting. He said, "Think of it this way, when you get up every day or go to bed every night and can look at it and think, 'Man I'm glad I own that.', you can't equate that enjoyment to dollars."

I bought it and like he said, owning something that is original and special is something that's worth a lot more than a few dollars.
Hope I said that OK.

Think you just said to buy a Hinderer and put it up on the wall, but am not for sure.

Nope, the art goes on the wall to be looked at and enjoyed, the Hinderer goes in your pocket to be used and enjoyed.

Both are special for different reasons.

From what I have heard, there really isn't all that much price difference between the 0560 and the XM18, if you buy them straight from the makers.
The HUGE price increase comes from the scabbers on the secondary market, selling $375 Hinderers for $800.
Basically, Hinderer himself created this price-gouging monster with his "I'll only sell to government employees" policy.
I'm not a government employee, so I'm just not good enough for him.
This is why I would buy a ZT0560, but I'd never buy any XM18. ZT is leveling the playing field so that regular people can buy the knives, and not just tax feeders in a market monopoly with a penchant for price-gouging.

A LE friend of mine said he put an order in years ago and still has not got his XM-18. I agree at $375 I don't think the Hinderer is a bad deal. At $800 for a production and close to $1500 for a custom ground blade is rediculous. Me and a friend each bought them a few weeks ago and I already sold mine and he's still trying to sell is custom ground XM-18. We didn't think there was anything special about them and can't understand the hype going on about them right now. Don't get me wrong it's a nice knife for $375. I still think $260 for a ZT-0560 vs $375 for an XM, I would still take the ZT anyday.

The ZT 560 series are nice knives, but they aren't XM's by a long shot.

Does anyone really think that Rick would offer a cheaper product that would compete for sales with his semi-customs?

This!
I haven't gotten my 0561 yet but I am looking forward to it. I had it on order long before I got my XM-18 (bought it several weeks ago) mainly because I figured it would be the closest to an XM as I would get. The key word there is "closest"- it is similar to an XM-18 but it still is not. I LOVE my XM-18 but I think the 0561 will be a totally different knife aside from looking similar to the XM. By the way, the 056X series knives are closer in size to the XM-24 than the XM-18.
