ZT 0561 vs Spyderco Southard, thoughts?

I really wanted to like the Southard but the ZT won me over as far as ergonomics for my hand....but thats all personal preference. I gave the Southard to a friend who fell in love with it and I have not regretted it. For me it was just ergonomics.

And Sal and Eric remedied the situation immediately!

To be more precise, the broken Southard was replaced with a brand new one in a VERY timely manner. Kudos to Eric. After reading that entire thread, however, I did not see a definite and unambiguous official explanation provided by Spyderco of the cause of the failure of the Southard. All attempted explanations (by fans) in that thread contained words like "maybe." Whether Spyderco offered an explanation in a different place (like the subforum), that I don't know.

I couldnt be bothered to check (whether or not it was definitely a heat treat problem or not).

Nor does it really matter an iota;

Has there been a slew of failed Southards in the ensuing years? No, there hasnt (as previously stated ad nauseam).

That should tell us something (well, most of us anyways).

Of course the easily impressionable will be hung up on the very visual image of the failed Spyderco linked to.

We have seen this before with other knives from other manufacturers.
