just received a zt 0562 in the mail today that i purchased from a member here on bladeforums. When i tried opening the knife for the first time it was really hard to open, super hard detent. Never felt anything like this from any zt ive owned before. The framelock also made full contact with the blade in closed position and trying to use the thumbstud is like like impossible. So i half way open the blade to take a look at the detent hole and its literally the size of the frame lock gap. Also there is a smaller whole within this larger detent hole. The smaller hole looks like the standard size hole for other zt knives. I am thinking the previous owner of the knife who i purchased it from did a detent mod but i could be wrong. Instead of contacting him with accusation of something that could be like this from factory i wanted to post some photos to get other members input opinions on the hole. If any other 0562 members are out there reading this, could you compare holes with your own 0562? Also the detent hole on mine has that polished drilled look to it.

Thank you G Scott for quick help and resolution. Yes this knife has crazy hard detent but i guess thats just the way it is : ). I will live with it and try and break it in. Thank yoy

no - zt0562 has perhaps the smoothest openning among five ZTs I have and its detent is not as strong as others like 561, 801, and 452. I am not implying anything bad about the previous owner, but what uou are experiencing I will not say is normal.

I got my 0562 recently and it was very difficult to open but over the past week and many openings and closings it is beginning to ease up. My 0566 was also very difficult to open and it has eased up a good bit as well.

Stop trying to used the blade stops as thumb studs. ZT specifically made them short and slick to stop people from thinking they are thumb studs.

What SN? ZT switched to their new style of detent (very hard, large hole) shortly after the release of the 562. My 0562 had a small detent hole like the OP's inner hole and flipped like a real Hinderer with a detent on the weaker side. It was a pretty low SN and I preferred the way it flipped.

Your right i was trying to use the thumbstuds but for now no ways its gonna happen.

ZT has specifically stated in the past that the studs are blade stops, and were purposefully designed as such, and not for opening the knife.

Use the flipper.

That explains. SN is 04xx and I like the detent (btw the detent on my 452 is much stronger which is less optimal to me).

My 0452 detent was also very hard when new, but has broken in nicely. Now it is strong and snappy, but very smooth.

Yes most definetly. Once the edge of the hole was "broken" it was excellent. I still prefer a softer (not too soft) detent, I never have problems opening them and I never slip off the flipper like I may sometimes with something like an 0452 :).

Serial # is 2038
