ZT 0562CF or MT SOCOM ELITE

You know me so well and we have never met.LOL. That's what I do. Just not liquid enough to collect. I did when the housing market crashed. Thanks for the advice.

I am watching your knife buying habits by hacking into your phone and watching you through the camera.

I'd still try a Socom first. Their uniqueness can't really be overstated.

Just avoid the Socom Delta. Despite being tip up, it doesn't carry as well in pocket, and both of the ones I had displayed lockup issues. They never got the lock geometry figured out on those knives before they stopped production on them.

Really? I had a serrated Socom Delta that displayed no lock issues. I actually preferred its tip up carry to the tip down Elite I had. What lockup issues were they having?

I also liked the Subframelock design very much as it allowed most the knife to be constructed from linerless g10 except where small liners were necessary.

Couldn't overstate the lockup issues enough. Seen it myself multiple times.

However, the Elite is done just right.

Both of the ones I had displayed lock slip, which was supposedly commonplace for the Delta. They felt like they locked securely but the lock would budge under load, rather than stick against the blade tang. Just checking for lock rock by hand was enough to identify the issue.

I sent a Socom Delta in to Microtech for repair, and it did the same thing even after they replaced the lock bar and insert.

Yep. Along with the poor and sometimes uncorrectable blade centering, and the weak detent strength, the Delta felt like a prototype that should never have left the production floor.

The serrated Delta I have from 2012 is centered perfectly and I can't feel any lock rock. Lockup is 50%. The detent is too weak though. Carrying in the supplied sheath

My 2012 serrated has no lock problems also and the blade is dead centered. The detent is too weak though. Lockup is 50% and I can't feel any lock rock no matter how hard I crank on it.

Mine was also a serrated from 2012. A serrated tanto in s35vn. Detent was weak enough that I could inertia shake the knife open but I can do that with the Elite and virtually any folding knife, especially if it is a downward snap gravity shake. However the detent wasn’t so weak the knife was opening on its own. No lockup issues with mine either. I would have certainly kept the Delta if it wasn’t serrated.

Too bad they couldn’t get it right for so many deltas. That knife had alot of potential in my eyes.
