ZT 0562TI bearing question

Well I’m never one to back down from admitting I was wrong. After looking at both the pictures of the knives with the bearings you guys posted I thought to myself why not take it apart and try again. So I took the knife all the way down. Cleaned every nook and cranny with benchmade blue cleaner and dried it. I then installed the backside washer and bearing. Put a little blue lube on the bearing and the pivot. Did the same to the other side then tightened everything down. At first I got the same results it would flip 1/2 to 3/4 open. So I backed the pivot off a hair to loosen it and now it flips like a dream. I’m undecided if it’s better than the kvt setup but it’s definitely on par. My sincere apologies. I’ve never had to back a pivot off when installing skiffs but I’ve learned my lesson with the taco bearings. Thanks for everyone’s input I’m messaging the taco fella now to give him the $10 he refunded me I feel that’s only fair since it was an error on my part. Hope everyone is well.

Swp321 Swp321 , I'm glad they worked out for you.

Another benefit of the Taco Bearings, besides having more bearing contact area, and using hardened washers as a bearing surface on the Ti sides,
is that the ceramic bearings won't rust, like the steel KVT bearings are prone to do.

Yeah I’m familiar with ceramic bearings from my skateboard days 100 years ago and replacing a multitude of wheel bearings on Toyotas that had gotten water intrusion and rusted all to hell. As a matter of fact I still have a pack of bones Swiss ceramics laying around here. That’s why I’ve switched all my knives that I’ve found compatible from the steel bearings to skiffs or tacos when I can. Thanks for your help.

No problem old son.

I never could find a solid answer on this when I was searching for better bearings, for my 0562Ti.

Since the 0562 isn't listed on Skiff's bearing compatibility chart, I ended up going with Taco Bearings, and they've been great.

Both of my 0562Ti's are running on Taco Bearings. The Plain Jane 0562Ti is the smoothest bearing pivot knife I own,

while the laser engraved 0562Ti needs to be broken in some more.

The scales on your second 0562ti look gorgeous! I thought it was anodized pattern. So it is laser engraved? Was it done by USAMade Blade or someone else?

On the subject of taco or skiff bearings, what I have heard most is that the action is on par or just a bit better than the factory bearings, of course largely because the factory action is already great in most cases. Personally I feel these aftermarket bearings are too expensive, hence never pulled the trigger on either one.

Yes sir, whitty whitty at USA Made Blade laser engraved these.
I like them a lot. The scales have a feel similar to fine sandpaper, and it provides a little extra grip traction.
