I requested a new clip for my 0566, since the old one was pretty worn.
They generously sent me a new one, free of charge, but it's shorter than my old one.
The curved in part meets the lock bar at the base of the cutout.
I called them, and the rep said "there are 2 pocket clips for that model"
"you got the short one". Anybody else ever hear that?

I have had my 0566 only for two weeks so I wasn't aware of the two sizes. Does the shorter one sit farther back on the frame lock? Does it make it harder to close your 566 now, or have any negative effect on putting or taking your knife out of your pocket? I guess I am assuming you are carrying it tip up on the frame lock side..

Hmm...I wasn't aware that the 0566 had different clips. I know there are two different torsion bars, but the clips should be the same regardless.

Maybe they sent you an 0770 clip?

They do have two size clips that will fit the same hole pattern. My 0566 has the longer clip. I would imagine you could request the longer one from them.

Here's a pic of the two different length ones on my 0452CF. I believe the shorter one is the default for that particular model. I haven't tried putting the shorter one on my 0566.

There are not two different clips for that model. There are two sizes of that clip that go to different models. I had a bit of a clip fiasco a while back. They kept sending me the wrong clip (it was for an 0562, so I think the 05x was confusing them). I finally got the right one after 3 tries. I actually am kind of happy it happened because I have a TON of spare ZT parts now LOL

Yeah, the 0566 has the same size as the 0801. Definitely the longer one.

The shorter deep-carry clip is for the 0770 and 0452CF.

I never noticed the size difference. Worst case just ask for the other one and they will send it if you want. I asked for 0550 gen 3 clips to go on my 0808 and 0450 and they sent them with new hardware gladly.

That makes the most sense. And I do have an extra (if shorter) clip. You'd think they would know what clip goes to which knife though....

Yeah... But you never know could be a new employee still learning, or an employee that's just working their job and not really into knives. I have a buddy who works sales for Microsoft. Doesn't know sh!t about computers haha.

I had the same issue. The guy on the phone asked what size I wanted. Not knowing I asked for both. No problem, no charge. Happy 566 owner.

So, did you find the small one too short? Which did you end up installing?

Sounds like there's plenty of confusion at KAI over which clip to send. As a premier knife maker, that prides itself on customer service. I find this surprising.

I reinstalled the long standard long one. it felt more secure in the pocket than the short one. I'm sure its just perceptin thing since I carried it mounted with the short one for a week and except for a trip into the nether regions of my lazy boy lounge chair it stayed clipped to the pocket. Let me add that every knife I own has taken a trip into that lazy boy at one time or other.

Careful now. This talk is like pouring gasoline on ourselves.

I consider customer service as the interaction between the customer and the seller. In that respect KAI has been great. Technical issues are to be expected. Quibbling over a size of a clip is silly. They never made it difficult in replacing it or rectifying the problem.

I have both but prefer the shorter one because it doesnt cover part of my 9mm lock stabilizer.
