ZT 0566 or Griptilian?

How is the ZT 0801compared to the ZT 0566? $10 more for titanium. Other than a weight difference what's the benefits to having titanium vs stainless steel?

Good question, Star. Though I do like the ZT0566 (I own a ZT0566CF-M390), I like the 0801 better; full Ti, bearing pivot, great flipping action straight out of the box, fits my (glove size large) hand better. Now is a great time to get a 0801, since it has been discontinued and is off MAP pricing, and the secondary market is soft as well (I have seen lightly used examples go for in the $110-$135 range).

Uea I'm going to try the 0801. Figure for the price I can't go wrong (knock on wood). Looks like it's gotten good reviews too. A few people have had slight issues. They were personal preference flaws verses a performance or quality flaw.

Went ahead and ordered the ZT 0801 from knifecenter. Now we play the waiting game.

Excluding a fixed blade 0160 Shifter, my first ZT was an 0801 that I saw at a gun show. It was selling for full MSRP (before ZT went to MAP) but I didn't care. The seller didn't have to convince me or anything - I was a guaranteed sale. Beautiful knife, and one of my favorites to this day.

I'd go with the Ritter grip mainly for that M390 steel and blade grind. It will be a very useful but lightweight knife.

I also love and highly recommend the Benchmade 940. It's a great knife that just disappears in the pocket.

I own ZT knives but I'm not a big fan due to weight alone, at least not as carry blades. ZT is great at making hard use folders though.

I personally prefer my 0566 over the Benchmade. I just find it ends up in my pocket more often. No issues with the elmax, I like the way it feels in my hand better. Works great if you ever wear gloves, very impressed with it overall.

The 801 came in today. Definitely feels good in the hand and came shaving sharp. Only thing I have to ask is there was a sticky spot towards the tip that came off easy but left a stain and under the pocket clip was a little pouch of humidity and odor controller

I like the griptilian and especially the Doug Ritter, but the ZT 0801 is just another league.
I hope you will enjoy it. I have the BW and BLK versions of the 0801 and they are my favorite knives.

yea I definitely love it. Flips smoothly seems.to lock up good. Handle really fits good. I love the geometry of the handle. I'm helping move my sister this weekend and there's a bunch of boxes that'll need to be broken down so that'll be my first real task for it. Can't imagine I'll have any hiccups. Only thing that I noticed was a fingerprint size sticky spot near the tip on right side of blade and that little pouch under pocket clip. I thought they packaged them with a little cardboard tab. Ordered it from knifecenter so I doubt anything fishy is going on.

Also I want to thank everyone who posted on this thread. I appreciate the advice I was given and appreciate the time y'all took to answer my questions and concerns.

An apple a day... With my ZT566. Deassisted, iron wood burl scale.
