zt 0566 vs benchmade 940

The 940 can take a beating. It cant pry like a zt 0566 can "pry". In terms of using it as a slicer the zt is a better slicer by design. If you were to buy just one or the other I would say a 0566 is going give you a little more bang for your buck being assisted, elmax and framelock with lock bar stabilizer at a lower price. On the other hand if axis locks are your thing, you cant go wrong with a 940....ive owned 6 of them.

If the "bang" in "more bang for your buck" means weight, then I agree :).

I have a 943 and had a 0566, and while i'm sure the 940 could stand up to more 'hard' tasks, I would give my vote for the ZT 0566 for the OP's given requirements.

I have both the ZT 0566, and recently acquired a 940-1 to replace a 940 I stupidly sold a few years ago. I can't stop carrying the 940-1. I really, really like this knife, and think it is one of the best EDC carry knives going. That being said, I would probably use the 0566 for tougher tasks, and carry it often as well.

Both are excellent knives. You can't go wrong with either. The 940 is a super slim knife and carries very comfortably. It also packs a lot of blade for a knife its size. The 0566 is definitely beefier, and the G10 and steel handle does provide a very robust feel. It is also a much wider handle that is going to fill the hand a bit better, which makes a noticeable difference if you are going to be doing a lot of cutting. The 940 is a plenty strong knife as well, but the very slim handle that makes it so comfortable in pocket doesn't make for the best ergos if you're going to be doing heavier or more repetitive work with it.

I'll be carrying both today...just because...of this thread. Crappy pictures, but you get a side by side comparison. If you plan to use a knife to pry things with, the 566 may have a leg up on the 940. (I try to avoid prying with any knife). If you plan to use the knife to cut medium meant to be cut both will perform to your heart's content. The 940 is lighter and a bit sleeker IMO.
