ZT 0630 vs. Emerson

The ZT 0630 is the knife that my father thinks is my nicest.
Nicer than the Umnumzaan, the CQC-12, my Spydercos and Benchmades...all of them.

I have a CQC8 (old one-#139) that I bought when I was working in the sandbox, and had a 630 for a while. Never did anything with it but try it out around the house. Beautifully made but waaaaay too heavy compared to the 8.

Listen let's cut out all this nonsense. Forget the zt 0630. Get the 0562. It's an amazing knife. If you want an emerson, you have to get a real emerson. And if you want a big folding knife, get a spyderco military. For $160, I would just go with the military. Just mho

I vote for the 562 as well. I've owned several Emersons and ZTs and a few XM 18's. Could bring myself to use/ keep the 18's due to the price. My biggest issue with the Emersons is the blade to handle ratio. I prefer a handle that's a little shorter or @ the same length as the handle. Several of the Emersons I've owned had longer handles. I also prefer a flipper to the wave, as the wave tends to eat up pockets. To me the ZT 560 was too heavy, 600 scales were too slick, 452 had to strong of a detent(common issue with this model). The 562 feels "just right" at a good price point. However, I'd love to handle a Emerson patriot, vindicator, and iron dragon to see if they could bump the 562 off...

CryoGuy5272. Have you seen this thread in the Emerson corner? Similar topic in ways.

I haven't seen this. Thanks for taking the time to find it for me.

Already having an 0561 I want something different. And a Military while nice and certainly on my wish list, will not be a knife I carry until they configure it for tip up carry.

The 0562 is nothing like the 0560. For me the problem i had or still have is, the 0630 gives you what to pay for. An emerson horseman or cqc8 feels over priced. If the horseman was cheaper i would go with that instead of the 0630. I just decided to not get either one at this time.

I just mean I've had a lot of Hinderer designed knives and I wanna branch out a bit.

Here are those comparison pics I want to take for you (CryoGuy5272). Please keep in mind that most of my Emerson linerlock knives have been personalized.:D

Waveless CQC-8, Horseman, Combat Systems Fighter and Tiger.

Iron Dragon, CQC-12 and the HD-7.

EOTAC (AKA Snake-10 ,recurve blade CQC-10), CQC-13 and the Sheepdog flipper.

I would have posted a CQC-15 but I don't have one nor do any of my local friends.:)

rayster - love your pics. Thanks for posting. I like especially the tiger and CSF and your pic is a great comparison view.

I love the scales on your Emerson Sheepdogg, may I ask where you get them?

My ZT0630 has a detent like a flipper, and is not a flipper. Opens fine after I worked it over a bit, but only if you flick it open and you have to do it just right. I like my Emersons better.

On the other hand, I bought a ZT 0909 and it has a detent like a flipper, and is a flipper. I like it better than my Emersons.
