ZT 0770 ALU/CF or ZT 0801? I could use som input.

Loving this thread, as I'm in the market for an 0770. Just having a little trouble deciding between the two.

Can't beat the 0770 Aluminum for EDC and it's priced right. I use one and keep two spares. I like the look and feel of the aluminum. The one I use I've used it as assisted since September. The torsion bar broke but ZT sent me a replacement and it's easy to replace. I also prefer the lack of flipper jimping on the AL (CF has it) and would've preferred no jimping on the lockbar (CF doesn't). The 0770 is not going to be around forever. It's a small, tough and handy folder.

I like my 0770. I was waiting for the CF but ended up liking the Al version alot. The frame is contoured to give a good grip. It locks up like a bank vault and carries very well.

HHere's a silly picture with another favorite of mine

Thanks for the insight, Ram. I was a big fan of the Knockout and the 0770 kind of reminds me of a suped up version with a better design and blade shape. This will definitely be my next ZT.

Just curious...do you think the handles can be stripped and ano'd different colors?

I don't see why not.

If I buy one of the knives I'll want to use it as a knife and cut stuff with it.

In that case, get the 0770. It cuts cleanly and effortlessly. Mine's a CF and I've not expeienced any of the problems that some have talked about here. I chose not to de-assist, and I'm happy with that.
It's a good looking, solid work knife - and much sturdier than I exected it to be. It's a heavyweight worker, with a lightweight charisma.
