I recently bought a 0770 in Elmax on the exchange and it seems to be a great knife but it is not finding any pocket time. I am trying to decide if I should keep it so I thought I would ask you folks for your opinions on the knife. I collect and carry mostly slipjoints and just don't know much at all about folders so I thought I would ask the experts what you think as to the pro's and con's of this knife. Thanks for your input.

I have had the same experience with a 0770. I bought mine new and plan to put it up on the exchange. It was my first (and probably last) assisted folder. The spring is rather robust and it fires like a rocket. I'm afraid I will end up cutting my fingers with one-hand closing, the downside of a strong spring. Just never warmed up to it. I'm no expert, but my stiff old fingers seem to do better with small flippers like the Positron, ZT 450, and Boker Kwaiken Mini.

Try it with the torsion bar removed. Transformed the knife for me. I ended up selling it anyway, but at no fault of the knife. Needed to fund something else.

Pros:
Light
Slim
Great Steel
Slices!

Cons:
The assist is unnecessary, but easily removed.

I've only played with one in the store. Really liked it and think it will be my next folder. Gonna have to get rid of something first though!

I have the 0770CF. I like it. Flat and light. Carries like it's not there. I like the blade shape and relatively thin grind. I don't have any 'cons' that I can think of. Whether it is suitable to your needs or wants is up to you and your situation. You must have had something in mind when you bought it.

I like the 0770. I have the CF M4 version. It's the only assisted knife I have. Very slim, light and a great slicer. A lot of blade packed in the scales..

I have the carbon fiber/ELMAX 0770 myself, and while it is a beautiful knife, and makes a great EDC, I think I've carried it twice. I just tend to prefer larger blades. I'll eventually put it up on the Exchange, but for now, I occasionally take it out just to fire it a few times, and admire it.

I purchased a 0770cf two years ago and don't carry it because of the assisted open. Closing the knife against the spring is an accident waiting to happen.

Maybe ZT does the torsion bar delete as a customer service?

Handled a cf at the big box store, and while it's a great looking/feeling knife overall, I personally didn't like the liner lock on it. And I'm not opposed to all liner locks, I have a few I do like, and i even revommend tyat knife to others, but for me personally, I didn't like I enough to justify buying one. Money spent elsewhere out of my wallet.

I've carried the CF version a lot over the past 2 years and have never had an issue with closing it one handed. To me it was nearly perfect for what I was looking for at the time. Thin, lightweight, deep carry clip and a decent sized blade. I'm not in love with the blade shape, but it does everything I've asked of it.

Like another poster I too have the CF M4 version of the ZT0770. It is a great little knife. It really lends itself to edc tasks very well with its blade shape.

I say keep it when you need a slim lightweight knife with a pocket clip.

I very much like the ZT 0770CF. It was my first ZT and I was not disappointed. It carries very nicely and I very much like the size for an EDC. I like the assisted opening feature, but some don't care for that. I am generally a slip joint guy.

As much as I love ZTs, the 0770/cf is not among them simply because of the AO. I'd choose 0450 instead.

A horrible horrible ugly useless abomination of a knife!

You should sell it immediately!

....to me!*

*Im not joking about that last bit.

I got one in M390 , and I find it great.
My first AO , and yes it is strong , but is works .

As its got CF scales its light , slices good , and stays sharp.
