Just curious if other owners have the same issue as me, I can catch my finger on the tip of the blade when closed, which up until today wasn't a real concern, but when I reached in my pocket for the knife, I cut myself near the base of my thumb where your hand has some webbing if you will...

Just checking if all are like this or if I should even bother sending it in...I suspect I can live with it

Has not happened to me. Thanks for bringing it up. Gonna be more careful when I pull the knife out so I don't get cut there.

A picture of the area with the blade closed might help so we can compare to ours. I have no problem with mine and can't catch my hand even if I try.

I've got skinny fingers/thumbs and if I consciously force the end of my finger in there, actively trying to cut myself, I can juuuuust barely scuff the tip but it's not enough to scrape my skin.

I have not noticed this, but I will check as soon as I get home. It is possible you have a knife that is slightly out of spec.

Should be okay - set the knife down in the closed position sitting on its spine with the blade at the top. Set the iphone on the table with the tip pointing straight at the camera. The rest of us can do the same and compare how high the blade tip sits while in the closed position. Get it as close as you can, but not so close that it cant focus.

The second photo looks like the blade is closer to the end of the scales then mine. It's a bit hard to tell for sure from that shot. I have large hands, but not ex-large. No way can I make contact with the tip.

Mines the exact same, but I have no problems. Hate to say it, but it's not a design flaw in the knife, it's you:o

Maybe it's just the fact that KAI packs so much blade into that handle. That, coupled with you reaching down with slight force made your skin wedge in there close enough to get bit.

Has it been de-assisted?

I have two of them, and neither of them is the blade that close to the edge of the scales. If it was mine, I'd just work the blade down a tad with a stone-but I'm a fix it myself if I can kind of guy anyway.

I tried to jam much finger in there far enough to touch the blade tip, couldn't do it.

+ 1 for me. Mines identical. I have never cut myself with it. I bet it's been de-assisted and the blades is opening slightly on its own.
